Support for HBrown

I’m getting pretty annoyed (beyond that really) with the tact or lack thereof being displayed in some of the responses to HBrown... First off I don’t know him - but I’m pretty sure he doesn’t need my help ...regardless..
- You may disagree with his points .. but why not respond in a civil manner? He’s putting sincere thought into his points and not resorting to personal attacks..why not do the same? - Unlike some of you internet warriors he’s not hiding behind his keyboard.. look at his profile and you’ll see that .. - He has contextual references that most of us don’t ... He’s a black man and a pastor .. Why not respect the context he’s coming from and at least listen? - Lastly he’s a Clemson man - Like most of us here ... I hope you wouldn’t talk to him the way you are here at a tailgate in the shadow of Death Valley.. He wants what’s best for Clemson as most of us here do..
I posted this in the politics and religion board but someone suggested I post it here as that’s where most of the back and forth with HBrown is happening...

post it on the correct board, and football isn't it. Same with your post.

Brown is an instigator and doesn't stay on topic. What does "Would you be O.K. if your daughter went to Jeffrey Epstein College" have to do with anything ? Most of his or her posts are controversial and not needed during this time of turmoil in our country.

I don't mind his posts, and agree with much of what he says, but he only engages extreme opinions. He doesn't discuss the in-between areas. I think it is crucial that we discuss this issue at this time, but the answers don't come from the extremes, but from the center.

if we were in the middle of football season, I might.
With our football coach under attack and the majority of our football players being black, now is a great time to deal with our racism, regardless of how uncomfortable and unpleasant it might be.

football board. IMO it is never a bad time to deal with our racism, whether it's now or in the middle of football season. As you said in racist Orange Lightning's thread, I'm glad people are being exposed for being awholes. But HBrown has a couple of options here, he can tie it to our football program and post it on the football board, or not and post it in the amphitheater or P&R Board.

I originally felt like HB was just trying to spur discussion, but his posts have become increasingly polarizing.

All of his topics are relevant to someone, but not on the football board. I have civilly suggested where to post to no avail and now I’m done being nice about it. Continuation is a clear message that there is a lack of respect for the other poster and members of this site.
Two sides to every story... Respect is earned.

Let me respectfully disagree with some points here...
- “This is not the time for these kinds of conversations” - I believe this is exactly the time for these conversations...Honest conversation is a far cry better than protests leading to violence from all sides... -“ HBrown only takes extreme positions as an instigator” ... I don’t think he’s trying to instigate- I believe he’s trying desperately to find some way to explain a different perspective to others with a far different cultural context ... Jeffrey Epstein is an extreme example ..but step back for a minute and think - what if the aversion we feel for Jeffrey Epstein is a fair analogy to describe the aversion towards Tillman? If it is.. how must that feel? I think he’s initially taken somewhat extreme positions to illustrate his point ..after more subtle dialogue didn’t seem to get the point across.. - “This is the wrong board”..,first does this apply to everyone who responds to HBrown as well? They are also posting on the wrong board ... Does it apply to fishing posts and new internet etc etc posts as well? Besides that if our Football coach is talking about it... Our football team is marching about it ...Two of our most prominent former football players are talking about it ....Is it not related to football???

No! Politics have nothing to do with football! Of fishing, etc, like I said in another thread, two wrongs don’t make a right. We learned this in Kindergarten.

I appreciate his perspective very much. It’s disappointing to see the dismissive attitude of some posters toward him. I believe all he’s trying to do is make us think. Maybe see things from his perspective. Maybe challenge some people to reflect on how they view/treat others.

I support HBrown. I knew him from my time at Clemson. Howard was great Clemson Tiger supporter in school (and still is now) and he was fun to be around. He has done more to bring about racial reconciliation than most people have. It is a joy to see his impact within the community.

Thanks TigerAlum92 for backing up one of several points I was making (with your firsthand knowledge)... He’s a Clemson man with Clemson’s best interests at heart and doesn’t deserve the vitriol some are directing his way...

I have no problem with Brown other than I have asked for PR related posts to be posted there. Evidently, that’s too much to ask.

This is a sports message board, nobody wants to see more of this media hyped over blown trash on here. I for one have never know a slave or a slave owner and nether has anybody else that’s alive. Bottom line in today’s world you work hard and respect others and you get respected . I’m not going to apologize for What happened 150 years ago but just keep living the good life I have for 49 years.

Deshaun Watson and Deandre Hopkins have nearly 2 million twitter followers combined...
They are advocating name changes...
So while recruits (thankfully in some instances) don’t necessarily read this message board ... You better believe some of them are reading social media ...
It’s relevant to Clemson football....
And before someone starts on some asinine rant bashing Nuk and Deshaun ... Clemson football wouldn’t be nearly as relevant as we are without them ... We don’t beat LSU in the Peach Bowl without Nuk... and we don’t beat Bama In the National Championship without Deshaun....

If you want to see racism with no apologies, go to Hawaii. One white and one black. It will not take long for the white to be called Howley and the black to be called Papoola. Just do not use any terms considered possibly derogatory to Asians or Polynesians.
