Kendall Fuller Commits To Virginia Tech Over Clemson

Virginia Tech adds an elite cornerback recruit.
Jul 29, 2012 - LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Kendall Fuller, a top cornerback recruit out of Olney (Md.) Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, committed to the Virginia Tech Hokies over the Clemson Tigers Sunday during the final round of ESPN's Gridiron Kings competition.
Fuller is a consensus top-three corner nationally and some services rate him as a five-star player.
Fuller's brothers play at Virginia Tech and I asked him about how that impacted his recruitment.
"It matters. I've had my brothers go through there, see how they developed, and what they say about it. I know they're honest with me about it and I know what I'm going to get at Virginia Tech," Fuller said.
His mind had been made up for a few days.
"I definitely knew when I got down here," Fuller said.
One draw of Virginia Tech is NFL development.
"Definitely. You want a coach who will develop you, teach different techniques, and get you ready for the league," Fuller said of Bud Foster and the Virginia Tech staff.
Unlike some top recruits, Fuller isn't worried about early playing time.
"Not really. I'll make my own playing time anywhere I go," Fuller said Saturday.
Fuller should immediately compete for a starting job in Blacksburg. He is Virginia Tech's 15th commitment of the 2013 class.

I know what I'm going to get at Virginia Tech," Fuller said. Also, One draw of Virginia Tech is NFL development. I guess he felt that none of what he wants could have been reachable goals at Clemson. Good luck pal, and good luck making your playing time against Sammy also. Oooops, TD Sammy Watkins.

just look at it this way. he hasnt signed yet. we play his 2 brothers this yr. kill them once again. as usual. an thatll put a lil logic into his head. but oh well. we are just as good, if not better, without him. we still got more spots to fill on our commitment list. i was pulling for him to commit to Clemson. but sometimes it goes that way. good luck to Kendall in the future.
just looking forward to this year and getting another ACC Championship!!! we are going to another great bowl game and its ours this yr. and we are going to be even better next year. Clemson will keep going each yr to a bigger and better team. Tiger Nation is #1

Definitely hurts to miss out on this guy. I was really hoping we could land him. I guess we just need to push that much harder for Hargreaves and do our best to kick in VTech's teeth this fall to show him we're the better choice.

I just saw that...that hurts even more to know we missed out on both of them. Hopefully Florida has another bad year or something...I hate having to hope for commitment flips.

I don't understand why we can't recruit any kind of elite cornerback talent to Clemson... It really doesn't make any sense why they wouldn't want to come here. We are a rising national championship contender, amazing coaches, have no star cornerbacks.. they could come here and be stars. But no... they'd rather go to a school that already has depth and are cleary heading downhill. I hope this season changes there minds and they realize how stupid their choices are. Only really good CB recruit left is Alexander. I hope we can get him somehow.

Crezdon Butler, Marcus Gilchrist, and Spencer Adams were all very highly touted corners, and D-Rob, Peters, and Cortez were all 4-stars.
Clemson's actually done fairly well at DB over the last 4-5 years, especially in NC and GA.

Yeah they're good 3 or 4 star CB's and developed into great players, but we can never snag them top CB's , the 5 star ones that have incredible talent.

Look he's 6 ft tall and weighs 185 ... played in a Catholic School League .... who says he is a "5 star"... beating up Catholic School Kids maybe... but in a real league?

This one kind of stings. I went the positive route and thought that we were gonna get him, especially after getting the last visit.
Bummed we missed out on him. I think Hargreaves is the better DB of the two but we haven't had a true consensus 5 star DB in a long time.
But, long way until signing day and I hope we dont stop recruiting this kid. I hope we go after Hargreaves and Fuller harder than we have been.
Maybe I need to tone down my recruiting expectations.
Usually Alabama is getting the 5 Star DBs and It is surprising that Fuller and Hargreaves never even listed Bama. I think Bama is just too stacked right now at the position with 5 star talent. This would had been the year to land a top corner.
Bama will probably reload next year on DBs and it may be a little harder to get a sniff at one of those recruits. But Dabo seems to be doing well.
We lost on Darby last year and now Fuller and Hargreaves. Not many others to choose from.

Not overrated at all. Excellent technique, good size, good speed, and great footwork. Can't fault a kid for following family, but I would've loved to have him.
