Sometimes people get what they deserve. Based on his performance, I'm glad he's theirs.

Yep, sometimes people indeed get what they deserve and that may apply to many of you as well.
I am a buying member of a Texas site and there's a few guys calling Arch a hyped up overrated future transfer, and there's a whole lot more calling them stupid like I always do here with y'all. Just idiots would be calling a kid overrated at this point of their college life.
Texas has a lot of turd fans, as do you. But, most of us with common sense are dreading losing any of the 3 to the portal and hoping they all stay and especially Arch. He's got plenty of long term potential just like Grandpa and uncles and even his pop. Anyone giving up on a true freshman who's an early enrollee at this point, doesn't know much about the game, I will say that much. I do know that dad is preaching patience now and hang in there.

Actually, I do fear eventually losing one or two of them to the portal. Our 4th team guy is a grandson of a big money guy and he's not any danger to leave and then another kid, a walk-on, whose also the grandson of big money and he's going to stick, more than likely. But, Ewers, Maalik Murphy and Arch really have no family tie ins especially

Actually, i pay for membership on a site and I purposely had myself banned so I wouldn't be able to react to posts like these because I don't do well with idiots that don't know anything about the game.
Out of every Texas fan that says anything negative about Arch at this point, there's probably 10 calling them stupid and I am fortunate to have banned myself so I can't lose my religion on such stupidity

Completed 5 passes out of 13 and maybe one interception. I've already forgotten the details. Isn't he behind Quinn Ewers for possibly 2 years?

I watched all of his plays in condensed version. Didn’t get a great feel for the flow of the game, but it looked like he generally made good decisions. They rolled him left on several plays and that’s a tough play call. Like most qbs the “touch and your down” deal makes it hard on an improvising qb.

Good post and thanks for the non-hate comment based on actually viewing.
He was playing with a scrub OL of either walk on guys or backups or early enrollees. I haven't had time to rewatch it yet and I will watch it many times over the next few weeks and months with no football. I will also finally watch yours as well.
Anyone being overly harsh on him doesn't understand a lot about this game. First of all, people develop differently and at different rates. Everything is new to him and it's not to his competitors.
That said, I hope he's smarter than the moron fans that say he's overrated already and sticks around long enough for a fair shot with older guys.
His family also wanted him to redshirt his first season. If you follow us at all, you'd know that Maalik redshirted and look how good he looked and Ewers never had that opportunity. It's kind of a big deal for QBs. You have some guys like a Trevor Lawrence that are ready to play almost from day one and you have a guy like an Art Schlichter that lost his confidence early on and never recovered. I had to dig way back to find that one.

just to keep the speculation and chatter down. At any point in the season they could change their mind.

No, it really wasn't and I watched almost every second of it when I didn't have to get up and pee and even that was paused. I have it recorded just as I do most spring games because of lack of real football right now and golf's just not that exciting for me.

Based on the highlights I saw of him last year...

and the level of competition, it seemed clear he wasn't going to make a quick transition to the college game. In fact, I don't see him necessarily becoming an elite college QB.

Dang just out of high school and that’s the welcome you get.
I get criticism and I especially understand the Brownell type criticism seeing his accomplishments over the years but these new guys just started.
I may think differently had I been the one to line his pockets with NIL money.

Just who is unwelcoming to the kid? I've seen almost nothing but the opposite on my sites.

Or a Vince Young. We'd like that, as most would. I don't even know how you meant that, but it isn't exactly an insult

I watched it and I'm not sure its all his fault. The Oline seems a bit suspect as it seemed like he was running for his life on every play.

OK, so one idiot is saying that. The rest of us are not concerned.
There's a lot of reasons for people being cool about this, at least the real Texas people and not T-shirt fans.
First, he played with scrubs and walk ons a lot. Then, it's his first semester in school. Then, the guys ahead of him have 2 springs, each. Ewers is improved over last season and is serious now instead of a clown. Maalik Murphy is really good, but he's in his second spring already and Arch clearly just arrived.
Hate all you want, most of us don't care what any of you think. I, OTOH (that means on the other hand for board morons) do care what some of you think but just not about Texas football because you don't know much.
