Something no one is mentioning regarding the overturned call

Right after it happened, and they showed the replay, the rules official in the broadcast booth immediately said "no catch", and went on to explain why. This was before the reversal was made.

IMO, this shows the rule is being interpreted with consistency.

That’s exactly what happened.

People are trying to rewrite the rule instead of interpreting it as written

Yep. If a SEC crew called it our way, you can be sure it was our call. SEC crews always screw us over.

If Ross completed the catch, as soon as he touched the ball, he was being forced backwards the entire time. He didn't make a move forward or laterally. Wouldn't that warrant the refs to blow the play dead since forward progress was stopped prior to the ball coming out? Furthermore, I keep hearing "football move" thrown around. Is being forced backwards even a "football move"? Just trying to figure out the reasoning for overturning it other than he didn't complete the catch.

Also, they called it a fumble on the field because they have to in order to allow the review. I'm betting they knew it was not a catch in real time as well, but wanted to be cautious. If they had called it incomplete, they play would have been whistled dead and the TD nullified without a review. It is just one of the peculiarities of officiating in the age of replay reviews. All potential turnovers have to be played out.
