Something has to be done about ACC officiating

These clowns ignoring blatant and obvious penalties while calling others that are questionable, at best, has got to stop. The league is complicit and enabling unless and until they intervene and start holding these officials accountable.

Do you really think it is any better in other conferences?

Yes, the Greenvillle SC peewee division has much better officials. They are on top of it. Maybe the A she she can recruit them.

There are bad officials in every conference, but the ACC leads in being inept and being blind on not seeing obvious penalties.

It's not strange to see Bama get a 'no call,' when it's needed on defense or to get a phantom holding call when their defense needs assistance. The ACC seems to do just the opposite.

It's only holding if you tackle the defensive linemen

it is being addressed. each week of each game they get worse. it is mind boggling how poor they are and how little they seem to understand the rule book.

The holding on the kick return may have been good call, didn't see it but to miss the facemask in open field is totally unacceptable. NCAA and conferences worry about injuries with targeting need to protect ball carrier from facemask as well

It was a blindside block and it was correct.
Probably didn't affect the play but might have.

The only way to deal with it is move away and let it do what it's going to do.

since it has carried the ACC in football. SEC sure protects their brand and Clemson is the ACC’s brand.

The targeting penalty against Mukuba should've been expected, at least they tagged the NC State player later in the game. 1 thing can't gripe about is they actually called a hold against an opposing OL.
Seen plenty of folks only complaining that the ACC refs were protecting Clemson b/c of the Shipley reception, saying he fumbled & lost it out end zone.
Biggest thing seems to be application of DPI. The roughing the passer call late was a bit of a sale job IMO, especially b/c it looks like our guy got knocked into him

My problem with officiating.

ACC refs are horrible, but I think refs in other leagues are just as bad. Not limited to ACC.
Here are my biggest complaints.
1. Offensive holding. It seems like it is almost random. Henry was tackled to the ground. Flag. Holding. 3 or 4 plays later, he was tackled to the ground. Almost looked like a replay. No flag.
2. Pass interference. Two observations: a. Offensive player can hand fight with defender all he wants. But, if he doesn't openly shove the defender, no flag. And, when he does shove a defender, probably no flag. It's virtually impossible to get offensive PI. b. I don't know how a DB can cover a receiver 1 on 1 on a 50/50 ball. No matter what the contact is, it is called defensive PI. I understand when the DB is beat and he is running to catch up with the WR and hits him. But, when they are running stride for stride and the offensive player is doing far more pushing and slapping than the defender, it is still called on the defender or not called at all. If I were a WR coach, I would teach my guys to slap and bump and do whatever it takes to get to the ball. He will not be called for PI anyway, and maybe the other guy will.
3. Booth initiated review of targeting. Situation: No targeting is called, but the booth signals to the field a replay for potential targeting. How do they decide when to call for a replay? DJ, according to the rule, was clearly a victim of targeting last night. Announcers saw it. TV showed a replay before the next snap. No call for a review. Other times it isn't nearly as obvious and the booth calls for a replay.

Refs having to go to review to figure out the down ...

... in your game yesterday was the greatest "###!" moment I've ever seen.
It was 2nd down! Wake had only run one play since getting a 1st down!
How can you lose track of that?

Not knowing what down it is on second down has to be total incompetence.
ACC refs have always been as bad as it gets.

It is a very tough

Call on some penalties. Many are really tough and truly could go either way. Holding could be called on just about every snap. Interference calls are the toughest I think. Last night there was a very, very obvious holding call on Henry directly in front of the official. There is no way he could have missed it. But he did. Too often these call have a direct affect on the outcome of the game. Targeting is really difficult to get right every time. I don’t see how the league can improve this situation. It’s just a part of the game and coaches just have to accept it and keep their team focused. This certainly isn’t an ACC problem.

I will never forget about 15 years ago at NC STATE. I think

it was Gaines Adams who rushed the punter from the right side. The blocker grabbed him with one hand on each outside shoulder, spun him around as Gaines tried to get past him and then threw him into the punter.....Personal foul, roughing the punter......I can think of MANY,MANY calls just like that over the years against Clemson from ACC refs. I bet you, our enemies can't come up with more than 1 call like that in our favor, for every 10 calls against us.

Tobacco Road influence keeps raising its ugly head. Seems NC State has more help than NC in football but opposite in BB
