Dear Coach Venables, I agree with you completely with your assessment of our defense. I have learned to teach kids by having them "do" rather than just telling them. Drills can be devised to teach in this manner. For instance,linebackers reaction to an uncovered offensive lineman's initial move. If lineman sets up for pass blocking have the linebacker go to his proper pass coverage zone immediately with appropriate coaching concerning a draw play. Want him filling the hole on a block down? Have him DO it in practice. This gets them in proper position and will do wonders for their effectiveness. Football is very much a game of body memory. One's body remembers what it does in practice much as one's fingers remembers where the keyboard keys are while typing. I know you are a very fine and experienced coach that knows all this. I only mention it for emphasis sake.

I think Venebles has it.
Now to get the Defense up to par.
It's frustrating because it seems Venebles is just as pissed about our defensive performance as most people, and yet it seems that all of these yards being stacked against us during games haven't gotten through our D's heads yet. They NEED to wake up and get focused for GT.

That Vendables is a very odd speaker. Definitely not a strong point. He's very intense & I don't know if he's like that all the time or not, but I'm just pointing It out.
Would prob be a little intimidating as a college player, which is a good thing.
