So, just who makes the playoff rules? If the SEC

Jul 6, 2022, 4:11 PM

and the B1G decide to meet after the season, won't it just be like a conference against a conference challenge and the rest of the nation plays for an official national championship? And if they stick to the current format, does an independent committee select the teams?

It could/will go like this: the sec and the big expand to 40-60 teams total. They give the NCAA the middle finger. The super conference sets up its natty and sets the criteria as to who plays. It tells anyone else who doesn't like it, have your own natty but none of our teams are participating. Who do you think is going to be the natty champion and who do you think will broadcast the game and pay millions to do so?

You’re right. Once the super conferences start, they’ll make their own rules. The NCAA’s lack of leadership and decision making will make them even more irrelevant. The true Natty will be recognized by the winner of the Big 10 and SEC playoff. The ACC can play the Pac 12, Big 12 or whoever, wherever but the winner will be recognized as the winner of the leftovers. Kinda like the winner of the NIT in basketball. Whoopee, we’re the 66th best team in the country. No one will care.

Of course much of it is speculation, but I have read there could be a 12 team playoff where the SEC & B1G get 4 automatic births each then the other 4 would come from the rest of the country and could include more teams from SEC & B1G if ranked higher than those outside those 2 conferences.

........if you're SEC. If you're in the Big 10....2 losses and you're out.
