At baseball because they dont really have any other sports, and focus all of their money on baseball? Just trying to figure out how they recruit some of these players, it has to be that they pay better than many ACC schools……????
Does anyone know…

Coastal puts a lot of money into their football program as well.

Being in the Sun Belt is detrimental to them when it comes to football. ACC should add them with App State and East Carolina while the mega conference stuff is going on.

Coastal has 16 sports so hardly qualifies as not having many sports. College sports is not all about money, it is about having players that are good at what they do.

True, but it seems they get really good players that can obviously compete at the highest level, so they must do something to keep them there? It’s strange to me that they can compete with the power 4-5 and get these guys, unless they pay them well, or perhaps they are just awesome at finding sleepers and developing them well

Well, I know one. Wells Sykes, 9 hole hitter batting .295. Rarely strikes out. Fast as all get out. Good center fielder but plays other positions. He went to citadel. He wanted to go to Clemson. Buds with will Taylor, ty olenchuck. Monte wouldn't give him a look at all.
But he developed. Why Bakich didn't scoop him up last year is beyond me. I can tell you, it had nothing to do with nil or money. Granted, this is only one example, but they have an excellent coach that develops hitting.
Our team this year went up to the plate looking to get a walk. I've said many times on here, watch the good teams and hitters, they don't always hit balls over the plate. Nothing wrong with hitting a pitch that will probably get called a ball. The good hitters will hit a ball outside and hit it opo.
I really think EB is the right coach for Clemson. Not sold on our assistants. I can't think that all the transfers he brought in this year were just busts. Dom was ok...but other than that, who wasn't a bust. Even the pitching he took like Lee were busts.
Actually, the kids Monte recruited were the best ones. 🤷

Will have to disagree with the money. Give Coastal an ACC or SEC payout and things will change.
Also rosters are pay for play. OSU was reported to have spent the most and was rewarded with a national championship. In the end it is all about money.

Have you ever been to Coastal? Beautiful women on tap, beach life, great golf, hunting, fishing, and a nice school. Not a bad place to get an education and have some fun while playing sports.

Have you ever seen the Clemson women? And: we're near the mountains, with equal if not more opportunity for hunting, fishing, and the like. Myrtle has also apparently become a little seedy in recent years, not as attractive as some think. And our campus on the lake is not surpassed by many campuses either. Point being: there's something else going on there with the recruiting or the selling.

I think being in Myrtle Beach helps recruit in baseball because of all the travel ball played there by high schools from all over

Been a good team for a while. Had a legendary coach who retired and promoted assistant coach. They value under recruited guys. But are better at finding pitchers. They have their recruiting footprint down.

I remember reading our smartest posters saying that Clemson needed to "stop recruiting yankees."
Coastal has 7 players from South Carolina.
Their 3 stud starting pitchers are from Michigan, New Jersey, and Virginia. And their starting lineup in the CWS has more yankees (4) than South Carolinians (3). Good ball players come from every corner of the country and Coastal Carolina is proving that.

Since moving to PA, I’ve been blown away by the amount of talent around here. Obviously need to lock down local area but ignore “yankees” at your peril. So many good players from up north on southern teams.

Coastal has arms...and lots of them...They have have some real good pitchers in the bullpen and their 3 headed monster of starters they have in Morrison, Eikhoff, and Flukey can pitch with anyone in the country.
The difference between us and them...the development of those arms....They have developed those guys over the last 3-4 seasons and they are reaping the benefits...We don't develop arms....at all really...You could even argue they digress from year to year. (See Knaak).

Give them credit. Similar to Dabo, they have a method and work their method. Clemson and S Carolina are both behind them at the moment. That said, Coastal is better than most everyone else too. Unlike the coots, I can pull for them. Hope they win it.

Craziest part is that Tennessee's ace Liam Doyle was at Coastal as a freshman, so in an alternate universe Coastal Carolina has the really good trio of Eikhoff, Morrison, and Flukey PLUS Liam Doyle... insane.
