So if Deshaun or Trevor walked up to the line of scrimmage

and saw that the other team was dropping 8 in coverage don't you suspect either one of them would have regrouped the offense and marched on with the game in a confident manner? It appears DJ may be a beginner despite all of our hopes that we had someone who would step in and pick up the reigns and keep on truckin. I hope I am wrong and that he proves otherwise on Saturday. If not, we will know there is a DS, TE, DJ weakness in there somewhere.

Absolutely right. All you have to do is watch any interview with Deshaun or Trevor and then compare an interview with DJ today and you can see the huge difference. DJ has a world of talent but he is not there yet as a QB who is in control. Hopefully we see improvement Saturday and more next week.

GT apparently did something that supposedly we didn't expect, right? Then why did we march down our first drive and score so easily?

Maybe they have coaches that make adjustments?

If Deshaun walked up to the line of scrimmage he would see Artavis Scott, Hunter Renfrow, Mike Williams, Jordan Leggett and Wayne Gallman on the field with him. DJ sees Justyn Ross and he's starting to find Will Shipley but I don't think he's finding people in those other spots at this point.

Yes and no...

We forget that DJ is a sophomore (me as much as anyone). Yes, their final years Deshaun or Trevor would have read the D, checked off and all would have been good. Their freshman/sophomore years, probably not. I can't remember with Deshaun, but with Trevor the staff didn't "turn him loose" his first year. That's why we run up to the line, everyone stops and looks to the sideline a few times before snapping the ball.
My issue with DJ in particular is his throws. They're bad. Nothing like what we saw last year. I don't know if it's the pressure of being the starter, receivers running the wrong routes, or the coaches screwing with his mechanics.
My issue with the offense as a whole is it's "same s*** different game". Same two running plays, same 3 pass plays, etc. Also no one seems to be on the same page. It's like the QB, WRs, RBs, and O-line are all playing a different game.
My issue with the coaching staff is in how they appear to be handling this. I say appear, because we really don't know what's happening in practice. All we see is what happens on game day. But on game day, I don't understand why they refuse to sit DJ for a series. Why don't you pull him for a series so you can coach him and talk to him? Doesn't mean he's not "your guy", it just means you're trying to teach him.
Will the coaches get it fixed, I don't know. I hope so. Saturday is the first step, guess we'll see then.

Eyes light up, run like mad until the defense stops them.
