He needs the experience and it's good to see him get some reps as our #3.

Yes, because the season is over and there’s no chance he’ll play in another game

IMO, playing is the best thing for Hunter Johnson. certainly a possibility, if not a probability, that some QB will leave in the next year. If it happens to be johnson (and i'm not saying it will be), then he can trans to another school, RS there and have 3 to play 3. if he RS'ed here and then trans, he'd miss 2 full years of competition (this year and his RS year), unless he did the juco thing, which most kids really don't want to do. if he stays here, its advantageous for him and Lawerence to be i n the same class, like they would be if he took a RS.
again, one man's opinion.. but i certainly don't see him playing this year being a "waste" of a RS.

Maybe. And he could be starter by year-end.

If not, he may want to transfer with KB returning and TL coming in ...

Hopefully he's not as short sighted as some of you are. He's one injury away from potentially getting important minutes. Even though he's third team, if KB were to suffer a season ending injury, there is no doubt Johnson would get a good look, even though Cooper would be the first one out on the field.
Positions of depth can suddenly be depleted. Look at DE and DT.

Not sure if he lose his red shirt. NCAA changed the rules on red shirts this year allowing a player to play up to 4 games a year

free with only 1 backup. We did have Zerrick Cooper as a true freshman last year but he was not ready. Chad Kelly really left us in a tight spot with depth for QB when he decided to pull his stunts. I think Dabo does not want to get caught in that spot again without having backups with some experience. There's nothing like game time experience.

Well my prediction that he would start by game 6 is not looking all that good right now. HJ is way too good to be riding the pines IMO. I am very disappointed in his lack of PT. I think he's better than that. Of course, I'm not close to being a coach and just guessing from what little I've seen.

That's exactly what happens at high functioning...

...football programs. 4 and 5 star players riding the pine until their number is called. They know the score when they come to Clemson. You compete constantly for playing time. No matter how many stars you have, if you're on the bench, someone else out-played or out-hustled you during the previous practice time or game situations.

of the Louisville game that the coaches had said that there was no reason to redshirt him because he wouldn't be here 5 years anyways.Nothing wasted, the coaches and players know what they are doing.

Pretty sure he's still eligible to redshirt considering he didn't play in the BC game.

You guys just keep on forgetting about ZCoop! If Bryant gets her Cooper is listed as #2 on depth chart. Things are going to be real interesting next season at the QB position...We are LOADED like a baked potato. Hold the sour cream please!
