To beat the coots? I know its the first game and all but I just don't see it. Vandy reminds me of coots when SOS arrived....lots of good talent but just not ready to get the job done. Would love to see it happen but I am not holding my breath.

Never discount a team with drive and a revenge factor. We've lost many a game to the likes of Duke, Wake, NCSU, Maryland in similar situations.

It would have to be the perfect STORM; like the quarterback being hurt - running back sort of gimpy - receivers having a bad day - couple of "home field calls" could this happen - probable not - but then there is the chicken curse >> still alive

strong feeling the Coots drop one of the first four (@Vandy, East Carolina, UAB, Missouri). Obviously the more likely ones are Vandy and Mizz, but you never know.
They will not lose to Kentucky this year, they are just putrid.
I also think they struggle with the mid-season stretch of UGA, LSU, FLA, Tenn & Ark. I think they drop at least 3 of those.
I see them coming to Death Valley at either 7-4 or 6-5.

but I also would not be the least bit surprised.
I saw Vandy in person towards the end of year - they were big, fast, strong and had a mean streak a mile wide. I was very impressed with them.
If you want to beat Vandy, you've got to bring your A-game. Reminds me a lot of Wake Forest since Grobe's arrival - they can play with anybody for three quarters, but lack the depth to stick around in the 4th quarter against deep and talented teams.
Lets just say that I'm glad they're not on our schedule.

But Vandy compares more closely to Duke. Wake to Kentucky. Regardless, we should never lose to either of them.

Duke, or Vandy play football recently. Or if you did, you didn't understand what you were watching.
Yeah, they're not elite, and yeah we should never lose to them. But with the limited talent and resources they have for football, they'll beat the snot out of a lot of teams with much better records.

on TNet. However, I don't expect Vandy to win, because I believe South Carolina's defense is too strong. Nevertheless, several USC fans have told me that they worry this could be a trap game; so who knows? There is one thing I am certain about: we'll know in short order.
