And its NOT on CJ? This is just my opinion, but some on here I feel give way too much credit to him because of his performance as a player. Frankly I have yet to see any development of our RBs to where they got noticeably better from the time they stepped on campus. Throw in the fact that his recruiting has been more misses han hits. Some of the same folks that give him a pass have bashed Grisham PLENTY, when imo TG had done a lot better most years. And those bad years I put a lot of that on DJ not throwing catchable balls and WRs giving up on routes. Not saying fire CJ but if there isn't a significant better performance across the board in the running back room I don't see how davo can't take a look at coach Spiller even though you know he's got to have as much love for him as anyone he's ever recruited.

No doubt about it.
And we brought in a top 3 RB last season.
I think you may be selling CJ short.
I personally think we’ll have a great year at RB.

I'd disagree on Mafah. He started running like he was a speed/cut kinda back... but not. The weight room should have bulked his thighs and allowed more power. But not....

I wouldn't mind moving on from CJ. He was given a shot. Keep him in some role because legend but get a real RBs coach.

I've had two intimate dealings w/ Boyd. He and I were partners in a charity golf tournament, and again when we were considering purchasing one of the condos in Clemson, he was our seller representative. Nicest and most humble person you'll ever meet. So for that reason alone, I won't disparage the man. But if he's the face of our RB room, and we're bleeding 4 and 5 stars, maybe it's time for someone who isn't so "nice."

Our coaches in recruit different regions/ areas. the position coach isn't automatically the lead recruiter of a given player. I am just pointing out not every RB miss is on CJ anymore that every one we get. Others are involved based on location and relationships. Getting RB's is not a strong area for us for some reason. That is clear.
Given how OL has been going maybe Matt Luke canturn up someone to run the ball. Let him finbd a guy

In today's College football world (semi-pro) QB's, RB's and WR's command a lot of money and they know it.
Maybe we can't get top RB'S because of this. Who knows.

Streeter, Austin, Dough boy, Lemanski are already gone.
TG was Wesco/Moore away from being gone in my opinion. Glad it worked out.
It feels like Davidson really needs to be as advertised for the Spiller experiment to work.
Riley > Streeter Luke > Austin Tom Allen > Pork Chop Rumph > Hall
Not sure why we have see nepotism hires fail before getting the right guy.
That being said, we have a top 10 roster and things feel right again. Happy Dabo has pivoted. Happy to be a tiger fan.

And you really shouldn't expect a lot from a NEW Coach as CJ really is. IMO in time he will become one of the best in the country!!!

Phil and Ship took up the entire RB budget. Did you notice that the moment those guys moved on and money was freed up, we got a top 3 guy at the position? In this new world of NIL, top RBs aren't going to a power 5 school for free. Not CJ's fault.
