Re: Snowden dropping bombs.

Nov 7, 2022, 5:38 PM

I actually watched and it was a fascinating watch...but somehow you missed the fact that what he's actually admitting is how the CIA - which is a spy agency and as such, you know, tells lies and sows chaos for the express purpose of confusing or thwarting enemies and cannot, you know, be trusted to tell the truth all the time - fooled journalists.

So what the guy said was, the way you beat a journalist is fourfold:

1) Establish trust upfront by telling the journalist good information he can verify, which makes him think you're a credible source.
2) Start slipping in tidbits of mistruths and disinformation that you want the guy to spread by slipping it in sandwich-fashion between other actual truths.
3) Ensure that nothing that's actually a lie is something the guy can check to verify another way.
4) Create "echoes" of the same lie by spreading the lie you want to spread to another source you know the guy will likely check with, meaning he'll probably mistake that for confirmation and very likely go with it.

Fascinating. It's almost like you set out to prove that journalists are actually credible but human, and that a professional CIA spy can skunk them if he really works at it.

Uh...yeah. That's what I said. Spies by definition lie and manipulate for a living. They're supposed to be doing it to our enemies but a liar tends to lie to, you know, everybody.

A lot of them are literally trained to do it better. That's a dog you'd better keep on a mighty short leash.

Let's make it easy on you ... name the top 10 DJT lies which make the FBI lies seem 'weightless.'

Engineers have credibly explained how the Twin Towers went down.

Many Americans (you apparently being among them) don't know that a Building 7 existed.

Feel free to share your interpretation about how Building 7 collapsed ... or just do your usual response via a coded profanity.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I disagree with the "credibly explained". If so, please post

Nov 8, 2022, 12:44 PM

I've never seen a physics-based explanation of anything beyond collapse initiation.

If it exists, I'd sure like to see it. I HAVE seen physics-based explanations to the contrary.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I disagree with the "credibly explained". If so, please post

Nov 8, 2022, 3:04 PM

Twin Towers credibly collapsed because the heat of jet fuel combustion softened the structural steel of which the Twin Towers were constructed.

The heat doesn't have to melt the steel; it only has to soften the steel for the structure to fail.

Had the jets crashed into the top floors of the Twin Towers, neither would have collapsed. But by crashing into the ~ middle floors, the collapse of those middle floors allowed the upper floors to crash into the 'softened' middle floors.

The Twin Towers were designed to hold the static weight of the floors above them. (Static forces being gravitational in nature.) That design to accommodate static forces did not take into account the force of momentum from when those higher-floors to crash into the fire-softened floors.

Thus, the pancaking effect of the collapse of both Twin Towers.

Re: Snowden dropping bombs. Didn't watch it, but that's OK

Nov 7, 2022, 7:35 PM [ in reply to Re: Snowden dropping bombs. ]

Glad you watched it; I'll expand upon your interpretation.

It's not just the CIA that cleverly spreads lies and disinformation. It's possible that, as far as formal education in lies / dis-info, they are the MIT / Oxford of this craft.

Again, referring to your interpretation, the techniques which you described can (and are) widely cultivated via less-rigorous scam / con-man schooling than what comes from the CIA.

Vast majority of politicians? Check. . Penny stock brokers? Check. . Bitcoin propagandists? Check. . (Many) financial planners? Check. . High-interest rate lenders? Check. . Herbalist / faith healers? Check.

But there are plenty of 'learned it on the street / trial-and-error' artists in the realm of the refined lies & disinformation business. These people can be very dangerous to your (financial) health.

Check out if you've had enough ... my example of such a 'learned it on the street' con artist is long.

Example is the stereotype 'historic' American family (husband & wife, three kids, pet dog and cat, hobbies such as cooking on the grill and wood working). This family is a nest of con-artists. Smart people, but no apparent formal education beyond HS. The first tip was this family's arrival into a good condo community ... as renters. We know the owner of the condo, and are friends with 2 other families in the condo community. This family had 4 of the too-fancy for your life-style image type of automobiles; i.e., too fancy for the people that are renting a Condo and then start housing their adult married children (who also possess his & her luxury cars, despite having no apparent regular job). We circumstantially know these people and have had (and continue to have) numerous casual encounters with them.

They are charming, appear to be open, and readily 'present themselves' as down-to-earth people (and do a really good job of it). Smooth at conversation without sounding 'slick,' never pushy or in a hurry. At least with their (rented) condo, they offer their neighbors the key to their place (show the hiding spot for the key) ... they demonstrate their 'trust' in others, which in turn leads others to trust them. Never proactively discuss politics, but are easily 'induced' to echo political / social leanings of their new neighbors.

Oh yes, and their excuse for renting in the nice condo community is because "Covid" caused their business (singular ... not plural) to fail. They really want people to know that they are 'not just your average renter,' instead striving to create a stronger socioeconomic connection with their neighbors ... but all the while, never showing any cracks in their demeanor of humility.

My wife did some sleuthing, and these people had ~ 10 different corporations which had opened and then either closed or went inactive since 2006. Clever aliases were used to detail the 'officers' of these businesses (i.e., the following is not the real life for this family, but for illustrative purposes: Alias along the lines of Schmidt being 'modified' to Schmid and then to Schmit; aliases for the corporate name ... something like from "XYZ Inc" [no period] to "XYZ Inc." [with period]. Also, a bewildering number of different residences, scattered around the upper MidWest and Florida; moved into and out of each homes more than once per year ... sometimes even moving from home to home to home in the same county during a year (and this being before 2020).

Among their 'businesses' had been a variety of very different (at best, loosely related) types of corporations: Property management, finance, green energy, environmental, and 'gadget / gizmo type' names for their businesses.

My wife and I don't have an 'ending' or 'moral to the story' yet, but this whole deal is quacking like a con and smelling like a con operation.

We suspect people are waiting for someone to reveal some financial component of their lives that can be exploited ... when the circumstances and timing is right. Can't prove it yet, looking to share the info that we have gathered with our friends in hopes that they will in turn share it with THEIR friends and neighbors.

The moral to (yet another long) the post is that people can learn how to be con artists if they are smart, pay attention to human nature, have the discipline to be patient for the big kill. It is both fascinating and a bit terrifying to have enough touch points to 'experience' their behavior. If something looks a bit odd, then be wary. Con artists don't have to have training via the CIA or other institutionalized semi-con organizations to be hazardous to your financial health.

Re: Snowden bombs. False virtues of most journalists

Nov 7, 2022, 7:50 PM [ in reply to Re: Snowden dropping bombs. ]

The 9 - 5 journalists are nothing special. Not 'bad people' but either in jobs where the editors don't want them doing real investigative stuff, or where the journalist doesn't want to do the dirty work of real investigative journalism.

My real life example is an uncle who worked as a sports reporter for a 2nd tier city daily paper in the Northeast USA.

Every work day, he'd write his article, with the 'hard hitting' stuff being an interview with a local sports figure whom he could quote and therefore meet his quota of words to contribute to the paper, and to meet the deadline for submitting the article.

The enormous percentage of journalists are these kind of people. They are not stupid, they are not immoral, they are good people who just want to make a decent living and not 'save the world.'

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

There are also those apparent 'save the world' type journalists who, by 'doing research' that allows them to write the kind of articles that their editor wants them to do, pass themselves off as smart and resourceful investigative journalists. These writers are no better than the daily rag journalists such as my uncle.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Not all investigative journalists are fools. Karen Kingston and Sharyl Attkisson come to mind as journalists who really do their homework instead of spouting off the popular cliches of the day.

Regardless of the rare good ones, I'll go with Tom's assertions that 99.99% of investigative journalists are either fools or quasi-con artists who make a good living via selling their editor's false virtues to their readers.

Ah yes, the ubiquitous 'un-named sources' which the FBI and/or CIA provides to lazy journalists, whose editors then gleefully publish those 'credibly sourced' articles.

The legacy of the NYT's Pulitzer Prize Winning Walter Duranty (and his 'Stalin good / Holodomor hoax) articles lives on in today's time of American journalism.
