Let’s say GR steps down or gets fired, would you think Dabo would like CM back to fill the vacancy?

I would love for Morris to be our OC again. He seems to be a huge upgrade over what we have now.
This is assuming that Dabo would give him full control over the offense, and not micromanage.

Chad Morris has Sammy Watkins, Nuk Hopkins, Martavis Bryant
I am pretty sure those 3 are pretty good, Sammy freshman year was among best I have ever witnessed

Was there concern at the time that Dabo messed with his game calls? I don’t recall that being the case. Instead I remember being so mad he would call for a trick play at the worst time in the game. Small quibble now given what we’ve seen since Elliott got the solo OC job.

We went super fast then, so that points to Dabo staying out of it.

I didn't see all of the talking by Dabo into his headset between plays then like I do now.
We used to run 75-80 offensive plays per game. It was fun to watch, and quite effective.
I never really understood why we moved away from that. We seemed to have a relatively similar offense when Elliott and Scott were co-OCs, but once Elliott was sole OC the pace slowed down a lot. It remained slow with Streeter, and has remained slow with Riley as well.

I like Chad's philosophy.
Even if it didn't work early with the talent we have, throwing long makes the D back off the line some.
It also gets them out of the mindset that they don't have to defend anything past 12 or 15 yards.

It is all in JK's mind, fits the Dabo Derangement Syndrom narrative. The idea that Dabo is calling plays, IMO, is ludicrous. Garrett is not paid a mill to sit on his thumbs. I know this does not fit your hate filled narrative JK, but it is much more likely then Dabo calling plays. When the QB play picks up the offense will pick up.

Strange you believe he would be a huge upgrade as many Tiger fans were not fans of on his play calling. They also grew tired of his jumping in the mix for every single HC opening.

I even remember at the time being fine with him moving on, largely due to wanting the distraction of his head coaching pursuit to be over.
He certainly made some poor play calls at times, but overall he was outstanding.
In 2013, we ran 80.1 plays per game, and averaged 6.3 yards per play. We averaged over 500 yards of total offense, and 40.2 points per game. We converted 84.8% of our red zone opportunities.
It was a very fun and effective offense, a stark difference from what we have had the last few years despite three different coordinators.
I'd love to have Morris back as our OC.

Well we didn’t have the D to beat them until BV arrived. We certainly had great offense in those days. I mean we put up 33 in the Orange Bowl Chads first year and lost by 37.

But people seem to forget that he sometimes struggled in high pressure situations. You could tell how much pressure he was under by how quickly he chewed his gum.

What he brought to the table was novel and effective for its time. I might question how effective it would be now. Defenses have learned to handle that offense over the years and I believe he would have to come in with several tweaks that would make it more unique and effective against today's defenses.
The OK offense looked very similar to the Morris days to me but that was against an overmatched opponent. I will be curious how it holds up against their stiffer competition as their season progresses.

Also, rules changes have made going up tempo like he used less effective. You can’t make a substitution without the ref standing over the ball to allow the defense the opportunity to react. I did like the eye candy and motion used to keep the defense guessing. Very little of that exists now. It’s basically line up and run plays out of a few different formations.

Also also. We don’t need Morris. Dabo has both Boyd and Stoudt on the offensive staff. Tahj ran that offense for 3 yrs, so he knows what plays what part of that scheme could be re-introduced.

I would assume that it can still be effective today, but as you said, with some added wrinkles.
I certainly think it would be more successful than what we are doing now.

I think that ship sailed long ago. Chad installed an offense we were able to run for a couple years after he was gone with great success. But he had a tendency to out coach the situation at times and it cost us. I was ok when he left, especially when DW4 didn’t follow him.

Hard pass on Morris. Glad he came through but his style offense is not going to get it done. The thing people are not realizing is Clemson is still running his base offense. Idk how or why but the motioning and qb runs are gone but this is still fundamentally what Morris installed for Dabo. Morris had a horrible habit of abandoning the run and also primarily attacked the sidelines. The issue we are seeing on offense right now in 2024 is Clemson does not attack the entire field, it's not even just the deep middle its between the hashes period.
