They paid more money, the kid rolled and we’ll find a better WR, period!

Well not sure he was even our recruit. Listening to the podcast host, an obvious WVU homer ( no sin in that )….. This high school recruit was committed to WF but changed his mind and has since committed to WVU. He’s a 6’ 5”, 190 lb wideout so probably a respectable pick up for either of those schools.
However, he also comes with a cool nickname, “Magic”. So in the same way the coots tend to evaluate athletic ability I’m sure the nickname will somehow make the player. 🙄

Obviously, he was not "all in," but was "for sale."

I should have added in my previous post, the podcast host stated that WVU recently picked up a rental receiver from the portal for this kid’s projected position. However the portal addition only has two years of eligibility remaining and this “Magic” three star kid would have all four years.
But in two years what are they going to have to pay to keep the Magic on their roster ??? If he committed to you for a payday right now, don’t think he’s not above shopping himself again later.

1000 people could be considered "Big Time". Like the lech trying to pick up his female cousins at the family reunion, it's all relative.

Agreed. Two stars can become super stars. Recruiting rating is some “experts” best guess. Look at WVU lately, any rated prospect is a win for them. Gotta remember they have a bunch of Uncles who are their Daddy around there.

For schools that aren't accustomed to getting 4 and 5* guys, any recruit is considered BIG TIME. The Coots do it all the time with their 3* players. You can always tell when its a 3* cause it'll say something like...."Top Prospect", "Impact Player", "One of the Top Players".

He's 6'5". Big not Major. Major relative to the performance of your current program. I'd argue a flip from Wake isn't necessarily Major, but WV is looking for some glimmer of hope. If they are able to burn just one more of those old couches they've been stockpiling, it'll be a coup for them.
