BV will be getting the axe this winter or next so he should be back soon but if thdy don't go to the bank and borrow 1 or 2 hundred million to retain and pay players in the future......BV won't matter.

When you have linebackers turning their backs to the offensive line and running back into coverage without safeties coming up to fill the holes in the line you’re going to get a 160 lb back running all over you. I just don’t understand our approach the first 3 quarters.

inflated because of garbage time in the blowouts. UGA and last night were all on the starters. This is not even just a "good" defense.

Since 2021 season, the number of elite players on defense has declined.
2022 was comparable in high end personnel to 2021, with the exception being CB. In 2021, we had experienced M.Goodrich that finally put together a very good senior season. We also had 5* CB and superb CB Andrew Booth. For 2022 our CBs were inexperienced at the start of the season, and boy oh boy did it show. Nate Wiggins came into his own as an elite CB in 2nd half of 2022, but he was chopped meat during 1st half of 2022 (WF game was his trial by fire; he darn near burned to death … but learned from it and became elite). Our defense gave up a lot of points on blown / poor coverage by our CBs in 2022. That was the biggest difference between 2022 vs 2021.
2023 had weaker personnel on D than 2022. Losing two first round picks on the D line (Bressee and Murphy) and a solid 2nd round pick at LB (T.Simpson) will do that. Despite the arrival of super freshmen TJ Parker + P.Woods and the emergence of Woodaz as a rising star and the maturation of J.Trotter as a star, our front 6 / 7 had a lesser physical presence due to us ‘swapping out’ bigger star players for smaller star players.
2024 personnel in D, while still very good, has fallen another notch as far as elite players.
It’s not so much that Goodwin has ‘gotten worse’ as he gets experience. He improved a lot between 2022 to 2023. Rather, he’s got a weaker defensive unit. DE is a glaring weakness for us whenever P.Woods and / or TH Parker are out of the lineup. In addition, while I consider Aveion Terrell to be elite, he’s not going to reach the extraordinary level that we had with Andrew Booth or Nate Wiggins. The personnel issues add up.

Goodwin is not the problem, recruiting and development has declined since 2020 as well. The lack of offense didn't help either. All of this falls back on the head coach.
