Sick of the LGBT agenda...

If you want to be LGBT, no problem, have at it.
But quit shoving your agenda down everybody's throat.
You don't need a Gay Pride Parade, you don't need your rainbow flag, you don't need to worry about what everybody else does or says, just live your LGBT life and enjoy it.

I don't see why they get a parade either. I mean, it's cool, if you choose to be Irish, I guess that's your thing, but you don't have to be shoving your pale skin all up in my face.

But to be fair how about being sick of Blacks? How about Hispanics? Italians, some Germans? Of course, those are all ethnicities.
I think what he was getting at was he doesn't understand why their needs to be a parade demonstration declaring what kind of sex you like to practice in the bedroom. It seems strange.

Today, you have a better chance of being elected to public office as a homosexual than someone who is non-religious. That's amaazing.
I sincerely doubt the LGBT movement or any social movement can be effective without being vocal in the public sphere.
I'm tired of stubborn people that use their personal religious beliefs to justify limiting the rights of other Americans.
And no, I'm not gay. Straight, but not narrow.

I personally think there should be a hard divide between "marriage as recognized by one's church" and "marriage as recognized by civil authorities."
People should be allowed to get married any way they want - in a religious ceremony, by a Justice of the Peace, even a drive-thru chapel in Reno if they so desire ("I'll have one holy matrimony, hold the pickles, please")...if two people decide to go for it, they should be allowed to enter into a civil union - a marriage recognized by the government. Myself, I don't know what the big deal is with nomenclature, and why the term "marriage" is so loaded for some people on both sides...I would have personally been fine with legalizing "same-sex civil unions"...as long as it had the same legal status as a marriage. People quibble a lot over words. It might actually promote some peacefulness if "marriage" was a thing that was recognized by a church, and a "civil union" was the recognition of a partnership by the government.
Then the gays and the religious strict-constructionists can fight it out all they want within the confines of their churches as to whether or not their "civil union" is in fact a "legitimate marriage". I could care less how that argument goes, as long as gays have the same legal rights to partnership as anyone else. Not my business to tell churches or devout Church-members what they gotta believe. Personally I'd cede the word "marriage" to churches. I could care less about the word, just the legal right behind it.

You can get married on a reality show and people watch.
You can get hammered drunk and marry a stripper in Vegas and no one protests.
You can get married 4 times and conservatives still listen to you on the radio.
You can get married 3 times have 2 affairs and still run as a conservative christian candidate.
Yet, people have a problem with gay marriage.
I've been married once, today is my wedding anniversary. I swore and oath to God that I would do a bunch of stuff until one of us dies (at least that's how I remember it). So, it's OK to lie to God but it's not OK for gays to get married? I see a disconnect.

I've been married twice. My first wife decided she wanted to ride every #### in the county. Although I also made those promises to God, I doubt he holds that divorce against me

Even if I granted your 3% number, I find it odd you discount that some of the 97% simply don't like the idea that those 3% are barred from entering into a legal union and given the same rights as the rest of us straight folks.
It's a simple matter of legal fairness to me, and to tons of other straight folks who think that even were it .03% it would still matter.

Liberal sexual morality was already more consonant with gay sexuality than it was with Christian or traditional sexuality. So why not attach your movement to the cause of a small sexual minority in order to make the next step in the march of the sexual revolution appear to be about equal rights?
Really, as some people have pointed out, sex outside of marriage and divorce (especially no fault divorce) have already obscured the traditional definition of marriage to the point that people both don't know why the government is even involved in marriage, and don't have any idea why gender has anything to do with it. In that sense, a lot of straight have already been living in "gay marriages" to partners of the opposite sex.

The "LGBT agenda" is that they want the same rights as anyone else.
If you wanna have a parade, you have a parade. If you wanna put up any flag you durn well please - a Clemson flag, a Harley-Davidson flag, whatever...doesn't matter, you've got every right to put it up. And that includes a little Gay Pride rainbow if you so feel. I would even include a Nazi swastika or a Confederate battle flag...if you're a private individual, you have the right to put up whatever you durn well please on your own property. Just be prepared to reap the judgment of your neighbors, and I think it's a little...wrongheaded, personally, to use the freedom that is accorded to someone in the United States by the Bill of Rights to wave the banner of groups that believed vociferously in denying freedom to others, but hey, that's what the Bill of Rights is for - my rights stop where someone else's nose begins.
Stuff like that doesn't belong on a government building or publicly funded institution, mind, but then, neither does a Gay Pride rainbow sticker. In a similar vein, Dabo is an employee of a public institution, which means he very much did the right thing by not accepting an award from an organization that promotes the abrogation of others' rights.
There's an old saying from WW2 that I think applies here from a very astute German pastor called Martin Niemoller that kinda applies here:
When the Nazis came for the communists, I remained silent; I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats, I remained silent; I was not a social democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists, I did not speak out; I was not a trade unionist.
When they came for the Jews, I remained silent; I wasn't a Jew.
When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out.
As a kid who's third-generation German-American (my great-grandparents were labor unionists in Germany, about third or fourth on Hitler's list, and split in the '30's because they saw which way the wind was blowing and got outta Dodge before the SS rolled them up), I'm very aware where intolerance can go. Most of my family tree, I have heard, got pruned by the SS; I do know some of those website searches have turned up almost no living relatives in Europe and very few here in the US.
Evil exists. And it tends to start rolling when enough people get together and decide the rights of others aren't important, simply because they don't like them.
I know, I know. Something like that could never happen here. I certainly hope not; I hope there's enough people who won't...remain silent, when intolerance raises its head.

Why do you think about gays all the time if you aren't gay?
It is a good question.
I could understand if you are gay. But you say you aren't gay.
Is there nothing else that interests you other than gays?

I also talk about music, #####, pewp, and other fun stuff on the jounge.
I will say that gay marriage is an important issue because while it doesn't effect me personally, it does have an impact on my extended family.

Abortion seems more important and you don't ever talk about it. Then we find out you support it.
You care so much about gay rights but not at all about baby rights. Why should I care about gay rights if most of them don't care about baby rights? I think it is a compelling question.

You're not asking me but I'll answer.
I think about ONE gay all the time. Every morning I pray that my brother stays safe, that my brother doesn't run up on some fruit cake that wants him dead simply because he is gay.
Even at a pretty liberal university where he teaches, (Duke) he has dealt with some unsavory people throwing slurs etc.
I pray and think about him constantly.
I don't know the issues with Drew. But, living the past two decades plus with an openly gay brother has shown me some of the things they go through.

You should know that trolling is a lot more fun when you don't act like you're borderline retarded.
What do you even get outta that?

You might as well be gay given you don't think about anything else. It is so weird.

Do you really want to remind everybody that you support abortion as do most people pro-gay marriage?
Yet you want to talk about rights. What about right to life? Gays aren't getting crushed to death.

I would love to stick around and probe deeper into you delusions of love, but the wife is home and we have reservations.
By the way, is it weird that when I read your posts, the main image I associate with you is this?

It's eàsy being a pompous jackhole, isn't it? There may not be a they manifesto or agenda, but right at the moment there is definitely a media, organized agenda, that dominates. And, if you have the impertinence to be in the hetero, 90%, majority, you are not gonna fit.
This stupid generation, are absolutely confounded by the irrelevant.

but I'm all for equal rights and freedom from discrimination and harassment for all LGBTs. Them having parades and flags doesn't impact my life one bit, and can't possibly be stretched into shoving something down anybody's throat.

Lumping all of them together is just lazy and comfortable

for those that oppose their lifestyle. The majority are just trying to live their lives and enjoy it, but there are many things that make that difficult including the attitudes of many of the posters on this board.
I used to be much less supportive of their cause, but having watched two cousins (one on my wife's side) grow up to be gay men and showing obvious outward signs from ages as young as 4-5, i was forced to reevaluate a lot of preconceived notions that i had, and really question things philosophically. While i can't claim to have ever come to a satisfactory conclusion, i have become generally supportive of their cause.

about this subject. I stay away from politics and other social stuff on the internet but I was so impressed by Dabo's statement today that I started reading these threads. I find religious people of any faith who think that they are the only "right" folks to be ridiculous. Most of the time they are the same people who get all of their "facts" and experiences from the media or other like minded people that they surround themselves with. It's the same way with race issues in this country. When you travel and get out of comfort zones you begin to see that there are some great people of all faiths, all political parties, all social strata, all over the place....people who generally just want to live, raise families, and work for a living. There are leeches, scumbags, selfish, self absorbed, lazy, etc., people in all parts of the country, and of all colors and creeds. Judge people on their individual character, heart, goodness inside, and don't worry about who they sleep with or what faith they are and the world would be a hell of lot better of a place. Oh, let me stop...I'm a transplanted Columbia boy in San Jose, CA, who retired out here, so I have to be a faith hating, agnostic, liberal, scumbag.....instead, I am a retired Marine combat veteran who could care less about your faith or your sexual orientation as long as I know you are a good person in your personal character that will have my back through thick and thin and won't lie, cheat, steal from me either literally or figuratively....nor will you do it to anyone else. The God I believe in I believe in in MY way. If others do not believe the same way I will still get to know them because there is more to a person than whether I agree with them personally on politics or religion. I served in the Corps with a rainbow coalition of colors and faiths and it's funny how when the bullets were flying, this BS didn't matter to any of us. Man, how I miss that atmosphere.

percentage of the population by hollywood then it is because of their overrep there. So now among the kids its becoming the "cool thing"..............not a choice for some maybe (genetic defect) but clearly becoming a socially pressured choice to many youths.

Especially if the SC rules that there's a right to gay marriage. Get ready to basically be told you have to agree.
