Shout out to the OL.

We have several problems on offense but the OL was probably the best part of our offense on Saturday. They more than held their own against Uga and had one of their better showings in quite awhile.

Agreed.

Same thoughts on Mafah. Someone might say he only average 3.7 yards per carry, but I consider that par / acceptable versus dawgs defense. He’s got to do better the rest of the season, but he did not cause us to lose.

Love how physically he runs. Passing game as a whole is just so dysfunctional. When we are able to find guys open Cade sometimes doesn’t see it. When Cade sees it and throws it they drop it. And when they do catch it there’s a flag. Ugh!

Problem is he is slow to develop run. If he was explosive like ETN he would break 20yd runs often. He is power, need some lightning in the back field!

Agreed. But that almost makes the whole situation scarier. We can’t blame the OL. Something is wrong from a talent wise stand point or it’s schematic

In a scenario when the OL does its job and provides 3.5+ seconds of protection, then:

If the QB makes the correct decision 90% of the time, then makes an accurate throw 90% of the time, then he QB has contributed an 81% chance towards making the play successful.

If the WRs run the correct route 100% of the time, catch 90% of the balls thrown to them, and (as a group) get open 80% of the time, then they will contribute a 72% chance towards making the play successful.

Combining the QB’s 81% odds contributing with the WRs’ 72% odds of contributing towards a successful play, then the play has a 58% chance of being successful.

At this time, the way that our offense achieves its ~60% chance of success is with short passes to the backs, WR screens, and short sideline or short over the middle routes.

We’re probably in the 15% success range with intermediate (longer than 10 yard) passes.

No wonder we struggle to make first downs in the passing game.

Also, oddly enough

We didn't take any linemen in the portal.

We just hired a position coach worth his salary.

Matt Luke is the man.
