The bottom line, this team wasn't ready. Defense and offense failed them more often than not. Pitching failed them. Obviously, outside of Cagle. I didn't see this team struggling, but escaping with two victories seems like a win.

If you pinch hit for anyone, has to be Knowles. JoJo had a good hit. Granted it was off the easy pitching and she k last AB but she's better than pinch hitting her and letting Knowles bat.
Losses happen and they were in position to win but agree, where was the aggressive base running on the error.

Fought off other close pitches. Swung at first pitch in her eyes. Way too close not to swing. Makes you sick to your stomach... they'll probably pitch to Cagle next inning but what after her. We still got 3 more shots.
Mistake was starting Spencer imo. Especially the way this series has been. Runs at a premium. Regroup and win the next one. May be what the whole team needs.

It very much matters, because all 3 runners would move up! And the error after would've scored the 2nd run of the inning. That was just terrible with bsses loaded no outs. You gotta be aggressive when you're already not hitting.

bit him. Those four runs given up before an out was recorded in the game were more than enough of a gift for NC State, and springboarded them to the win, even though the Tigers tied it up at one point. That pitcher who finished the game for them is a tough one.

Offensively this is not a national seed team. The difference between the offense before the FSU series & after is like night & day. Cagle is all they got right now & she is absolutely not getting any help in the lineup. You want to be playing your best ball going into the final portion of your season & they are struggling offensively badly. Got to find a way to find some kind of spark in the lineup other than Cagle or this great season could fizzle out quickly.
