Seems we aren't recruiting Safeties this cycle, at least

we haven't put out many offers. It seems like we are after three out of Texas(Mickens, Thompson, Snow) but that is really it. It will be difficult to pull any of those out of Texas.
I would guess Tyler Venables might be a Safety recruit as well as Danieyel Ngata(though he would be more of a CB).
Thoughts?

I saw all the Texas offers and thought that was interesting, too. We just signed 4 safeties in 2019 so maybe they are being selective early on for 2020. Any maybe McMichael moves to safety...who knows.
I assume we sign at least 1 in 2020, but probably 2.

I dont think we are worried this cycle due to this years depth and 4 from the last class plus Spector in 17 redshirt soph. The athletes between Goodrich, McMichael, Sheridan and Booth tell me one could bump to Safety if needed though unlikely.
So we want a top talent of we essentially pass. Likely taking 1

In addition you have green from Virginia, along with Thompson the others from texas and Swint can play safety too. By my count that’s 5 and I think we have a good shot at green and Thompson.
I’d have to say that gives us pretty good depth until 21. Plus we’re probably only taking 20 commits in 2020. Doesn’t leave much when you take 4 ol and 4 dline, a couple rb, qb, cb’s, wr’s etc.
Got another junior day and camps. I’m sure there’s a couple that haven’t surfaced yet.

We took 4 safeties in 2019, so it’s not a position of need. However, the coaches really want either RJ Mickens or Chris Thompson Jr, those guys are immediate difference makers. Mickey Conn went and visited both this past week, and Dabo visited Mickens’ school 2 weeks ago. That’s saying a lot. I think we take 1 safety. If it’s not Thompson/Mickens, I could see us pushing 4-star Malcolm Greene out of Virginia. Also, cornerback Keshawn Lawrence make project as a safety in college, or a hybrid. He’s 6’2”/200lbs, so he’s built like a safety.
