Demonte Capehart

Any news on this guy? Third year in the program, all-world 5-star out of high school, has the size to be a force in the middle of the DL. Has he been dealing with injuries too? At this point shouldn't a guy like this be making some noise? Did he play at all against WF or NCSU?

It just seems strange that...

so many here are extremely excited at the prospect of an injured player returning who's been in the program for FIVE YEARS and has rarely seen the field, but more recent top recruits who should be hitting their stride in this program are seldom mentioned. And when I ask the questions, some flaccid weakling TD's it with no response.
Weak.

Payton Page 55 is really making a move as every time he comes in you see OL being pushed into the backfield. Ruke, TD, Tre, and Page are taking up the majority of the snaps. If he stays all in, I could see him and Page being a force next year.

Similar questions were asked about KJ Henry I suppose.***

And rightfully so

One would expect the best players to make an impact before their last year in the program. In fact we really NEED them to make an impact and add to our quality depth if we want to keep up with the bamas and the dawgs of this world. I'm glad that KJ has hit his stride and is a disruptive force on the DL. We need him, especially if Bresee is going to be out.

You seem like an angry person. Players develop at different intervals based on a number of factors. Factors such as maturity, injuries, work ethic, depth chart and buy in. It was well known that Capehart was a five star based on physical ability but was not developed in terms of technique of football IQ. We have seen a number of players who did not contribute until late in their careers so we should compliment them for grinding instead of complaining

a while to come around at Clemson.
He parlayed a strong final year into a nice pro career.

Dabo mentioned last night that he has been good. I think he's been over shadowed by Page who has really come on this year.

I think he fell behind early in his career because of injuries and now finds himself in our deepest room
Played 30 combined snaps v FUR/LT and just 6 v WF/NCST

heavily relied on next year if the guys depart that are projected. Dabo has mentioned he has been coming on this year. Very high on him. They should have RS him last year but they played him in 5 games instead of 4 - was kind of a silly mistake IMO. He still has 2 more years after this year but could've had 3 if he wanted them

Looking forward to seeing Capeheart coming into games against league competition and causing havoc like Christian Wilkins and Dexter Lawrence.

He still has a COVID year so he effectively gets a redshirt year. He also used his regular redshirt his freshman year so I dont think it mattered how many games he played in last year.

Seems like he's done well when on the field

But right now, getting on the field is tough because so many of our tackles are playing great.
I think he's a strong candidate to hit the transfer portal this winter.

He loves Clemson through & through, he’s not going anywhere, he’s going to be a great DT for us & play in the NFL.

Best thing I have read all day today!
Really is. You can see the talent when he gets his opportunities. We are just super deep currently; which hopefully is serving to make him better.
He'll get his time and like you said, "when he does, I predict big things"!

Flying Tiger Good Question.
Over the summer somebody got on tnet claiming to have heard Demonte say he was leaving! Of course, that was bogus.
I hope he doesn't get frustrated and leave. It literally "only takes one year to be dominant" and the NFL will come calling assuming any injuries that held you back are in the rearview mirror!
It literally happens every year in the NFL draft.
That's for all players who think they have to be the main man from day one. It doesn't work like that. Scouts understand in fact, some kids won't put up great numbers because of the system they are in.
I am pulling for all Tigers and hope none of them get frustrated enough to want to leave Clemson! Demonte flashes when he does get in the game. He'll have two more years after this as I believe he is a RS Sophomore.
He has time! Stay healthy Demonte and keep grinding!
