I asked ChatGPT the same thing as I didn’t know either.

The “mustard” joke with the University of Tennessee (UT) football originates from a 2021 game against Ole Miss at Neyland Stadium, UT’s home field. During this game, some Tennessee fans were upset over officiating calls and other events. Late in the game, they began throwing objects onto the field, including water bottles, a golf ball (directed at Ole Miss’s coach Lane Kiffin), and famously… a bottle of mustard.
