Clemson's decline could not come at a worse time

The SEC and the Big 10 are exerting more and more pressure to somehow separate themselves from the rest of college football. And between TV deals and NIL money, they may very well succeed (to the detriment of the rest of college football).
Before this latest debacle, Clemson had some hope of finding a way of becoming part of one of these "elite" conferences. But now that hope is dashed. Clemson will be relegated to secondary status just like the rest of the ACC and the Big 12. Miami and Fla St are the only two teams who may find their way to the bigger paydays of the "elites".

Not in the context you used it, but there’s another context (slang) that is.

Why should they be, they already get whatever they want now.

Even if they do not form a separate league, they will leverage their money and power to increase their dominance of the NCAA and the CFP - leaving behind the ACC and the Big 12. Clkemson HAD a chance to get on the other side of that divide, but that have lost that now.
Players that want to play for championships will go to the SEC or the BIG..

the end of the day to post something really dumb. FSU 2-10, won more than 5 games twice in the last 8 years- and now ACC "Elite". Miami has won 10 games twice in the last 20 years. If CU goes 2-10 for the next 5 years, but decides they want to leave and go anywhere- they will have their pick.

For the love of God and the bajillionth time - the SEC says they aren't adding anyone anytime soon. If they did they'd would have by now. The B1G isn't even paying Oregon or UWash full shares yet and still trying to figure out the impact of the Southern Cal and UCLA add.
Clemson has a fantastic well rounded athletic department. We aren't getting left out.

The SEC always strike when no one's looking believe that . Clemson will be in one of those leagues because it's a name brand. Next conversation!

They spent so much time trying to pay for players.... they neglected updating their facilities. But now they seem to be working on catching up and balancing out things in their programs.
Clemson has the facilities without having to dish out a bunch of money for players at first. One of our many problems is our players aren't using the facilities enough.... because 70% of the players look skinny and soft....and just not ready to be football players.
The way Texas ran through us with ease.......the way Sellers ran through us with ease.... even Troy strong arming us because they were desperate to beat us ... like Georgia Tech....like Syracuse.
The LSU game was a poundfest of body blows...but it was winnable for Clemson. Clemson just didn't do any adjustments. Antonio William's injury shoulgd not have been the reason to give up on the task that was in front of them.

We’re OK
Yes, the timing cannot be worse. But Clemson has everything you basically need to be successful….. potential is there as proven by prior results. The power brokers know that. There are many other programs in P4 that just cannot achieve what we have.
Outside of ND, Clemson and FSU are still the two hottest chicks at the dance when it comes to expansion. UNC right there too.

UNC cant pull in the football TV ratings that Clemson and FSU do and basketball doesn't count in this super conference race!

nobody is making decisions on 1 or 2 years of football results absurd thinking, imagine the Big10 phone calls regarding FSU if it really was this way:
"13-0 we must get them in immediately extend the invite"
"ok 2-10 yeah forget it"
"they just beat bama ok send em an invite"
no one is making 40 year membership decisions based on a few years of results.

You base your decision on the basis of one season of football ? How can you predict the demise of Clemson football with one bad year that is not over yet. You must have a neat crystal ball.
