This is all I need
Michael Gregg Marshall[1] (born February 27, 1963) is an American college basketball coach whose most recent position was head coach at Wichita State University. Marshall has coached his teams to appearances in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament in 14 of 22 years as a head coach. He is the winningest head coach in Wichita State and Winthrop history with 331 and 194 wins,

Clemson thankfully is not going to hire shady characters, especially ones who were let go because of abuse of the players.

A single player made a single accusation of physical violence that Marshall has vehemently denied. Some players “refused to take sides” but Wichita State was unable to gather enough evidence to go forward with any claim of dismissing Marshall for cause. He will coach again and, if we don’t give him a chance, we’ll deserve it if he’s eventually at another ACC school.

When he rejected NC State after getting pretty deep into the process, it was rumored at that point that he had decided to hold out for an elite job opening. His resignation at Wichita State almost certainly scuttled that possibility. No reason to think it would be an ACC school over any other conference but someone is gonna give him his shot at redemption.

So you admit that you have no basis to say that aren’t comparable? Because even Wichita State found no basis to dismiss Marshall “for cause” and had to reach a settled resignation. You’d know that if you actually read those Google results.

It’s also worth knowing that Wichita State is a small school with a relatively small budget and was paying Marshall one of the highest salaries in college basketball at that time. Marshall stepped down during the COVID season. There is a fair amount of conjecture that Wichita State was eager to separate from Marshall because of the uncertainty surrounding the financial future of their program. There was nothing going on with Marshall that wasn’t know the entire time he was there - including when they entered into a $3.5 million annual rolling contract.

Pretty good breakdown of the allegations and Marshall’s extremely successful record and accusations of abuse. Which are fairly numerous and despite the record, WSU was quick to part ways. If Neff/Clemson considers this direction, it could be problematic. However, I’m also all about a good comeback too. Marshall’s record speaks for itself.

With the Clemson clause as cited here, he would be on a very short leash.***

I agree regarding Clemson’s appetite to move this direction and the risk involved. Several programs, including South Carolina, have passed him over multiple times. That speaks volumes to me as to what we don’t see in the news.

He had a lot more leeway at Wichita State than he would at Clemson in terms of academics, player conduct, etc.
I don’t think he’s what we want, but it could be a nice redemption story if he has changed and can be who we need him to be.
