Scammed by a tarhole

Was on a recent flight from out west to Charlotte, I'm rather tall and always book an aisle seat ahead of time, or I pay for an exit row or comfort plus to avoid flying in agony. I was sitting in my aisle seat when the people booked beside me approached, an elderly couple, who asked if the gentleman could sit in my aisle seat, at first I refused, and then they gave me a story about how he just had a medical procedure and would more than likely have to get up several times and had trouble standing . I reluctantly agreed to spend the next four hours in pain, and allowed the old man to sit in my spot. He got up exactly one time during the flight, and spent most the time watching the Duke/Miami game, cheering against Duke, and from their conversation figured out, they were Tarheel fans. and I got scammed. Just further cements them as cheaters and most hated rival in Clemson sports. Don't let this happen to you...

I bought my family of four the extra cheap economy flight tickets from Orlando to London a few years ago, right before Covid was a thing. Since I refused to be upsold, I had to wait until check-in to choose seats. By that time, there was no such thing as even two seats together, much less four. So we played the hand we were dealt and didn't ask other passengers to switch. I will say each of us did have an aisle seat, so that part was good.

The question to ponder is, what would be the biggest concern booking a roundtrip flight from Orlando to London? The long drive...no, not when tickets were <$500/person and all other airports were at least twice that. If you think about it (which I didn't), on the first flight we found the plane to be 90% full of British families with young cranky kids who had been going full bore at Disney for a week. On the flight back, 90% full of British families with kids bouncing off the walls of plane in anticipation of seeing Mickey Mouse. Oh my.
