Yes, none of the things you listed put fans and players in jeopardy. The rules for “Gathering at the paw’ need to be enforced or it needs to be stopped. Period. They won’t even fill up the hill anymore but they allow that nonsense.

Misspelt, while a bit archaic and/or Brtish-y, is not incorrect. Why am I pointing this out? No idea, haha.

But, can’t the kids wait for 30 seconds after the game is over? Remember we have Cal and Stanford in the conference next year!

Shut up you loser. Meeting at the paw is something a lot older and more important than you. It was a classy move by Dabo, but he messed up everyone by not doing it a play sooner.

LMAO. It's "Gathering at the Paw" and it didn't start until 2003. Things only 20 years old aren't a tradition. That wasn't GATP that was rushing before the game was over and the visiting team exited. Embarrassing our fans don't know how to act.

Funny, I remember doing it in the early 80's. I think that's a few minutes more than 20 years.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I do too

1

Nov 18, 2023, 8:13 PM

In fact last time I went into the field, I'm sure Danny was still the coach.

They may have just started calling it Gathering at the Paw in 2003, but it's been going on a long time before.

maybe it only started being called that in 2003

1

but fans have been going on the field way longer than that

I know for a fact it was happening in the 70s. Ot just wasn't as big or shown on TV as much. DV only held about 53,000 (including the hill) back then.

Here's a DV fact for the youngsters. 3 current defending National Champions have come to DV and their record is 0 - 3.

Not true.

Did it at my first game in the early 90s.

Even though it's definitely been going on longer than since 2003. 20 years is definitely long enough to call something a tradition.

Sorry, don't know what you are talking about. I was going on the field in the 50's and 60's when I was a kid asking players for chin straps. They just changed the name to "gathering at the paw" ...... not the tradition.

We joined the team on the field before there was a paw. I remember going on the field to meet the players and coaches after the game in 1961… I was 5 and had been to games before but I don’t remember going on the field… we probably did.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Rushing the field is dumb

Nov 19, 2023, 10:06 AM

It was formalized in 2003 and there were boundaries established like entering only from the hill after a certain amount of time has passed - not jumping over stadium walls like hoodlums. What happened last night doesn't resemble that. Doesn't really matter because only a matter of time with the ACC looking for more revenue they start with hefty fines like the SEC. I'm thinking the other ACC schools would not mind the extra coins from Clemson. Guaranteed Stanford and Cal will cry the loudest if it happens against them.

Dangerous? List the injuries you're aware of while meeting at the Paw?

Rockwellian, Small town America, great tradition among so many thing that have vanquished and are gone with the wind. Even Clemson, the town I grew up in, has become a pretty snarky place compared to what it was in the sixties and seventies, what with all the traffic, speed bumps, police cherry picking people, codes on doors, paid little parking spaces and what-not. And who said it's "rushing" the field. It's done very controlled, nobody gets hurt, or if they do they blame themselves. Hey, it's the Gathering at the Paw. Part of what makes Clemson special, along with "them hills". I guess someone like you would probably get rid of the Hill and the Rock, which are also very cozy confines.
