Someone who understands how the scoring works, it would be greatly appreciated. I watched some this morning and understand Cuse and Duke were 2nd and 3rd in grand national but on rowing website, it sounded like we did pretty good.

Will we compete in nationals? How do we stack up with other programs. Sincerely thanks in advance.

I too have wondered how they do scoring for the Rowing Championships.I see the Tigers finished 4th out of 9 teams.Virginia dominated once again and that makes 22 times they have done that in the 23 years of ACC Rowing,the Tigers won the only other one back in 2009...https://theacc.com/news/2022/5/14/womens-rowing-virginia-claims-2022-acc-rowing-championship.aspx

There are five different races, 2nd Varsity 4+, 1st Varsity 4+, 3rd, 2nd and 1st Varsity 8+.

Points are awarded based on placement as you would figure, but more points are awarded in the 1st Varsity 8+ (36-32-28-24-20-16-12-8-4) as compared to the second (27-24-21-18-15-12-9-6-3), and third (9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1)

The first Varsity 8+ points are double that of the first Varsity 4+ race. Often the meet comes down to the final race which is the 1st Varsity 8+ with the most points at stake.

Many rowing competitions have what is call a Novice boat classification (women that have never rowed in competition before the season) that in the ACC competition is replaced by a 3rd Varsity 8+

Yesterday's races produced the seeding for Saturday's races. Grand Final is made up of the top six times from Friday, Petit Final is for seeds 7 and up.

CGA ..... I looked at the results and from what I understand we did rather poorly. It appears that we were not even close or really competitive in almost all of the races. Maybe someone that understands it better than me can fill us in how we performed.

IMHO we overall performed well, not great. It needs to be put in perspective as Virginia, Syracuse and Duke are some of the top teams in the country.
Not unlike soccer and lacrosse, ACC is one of the most competitive conferences in rowing.
Difficult to break into that top group.
