Agreed. That and the shitzu reffing. I am completely fed up with their lack of calls in one side and knitpicking on the other. Everything from targeting to late hits and everything in between is ignored until the game is out of reach. They did the same 2 weeks ago, but their plan failed due to their finally calling a fair game too soon. The waiting the required time this week. The 2 beaux collins calls in the first 3 plays was foreshadowing of what was to come all night. Should have packed up and left then. The only thing I didn't get was the lack of emotion from Dabo. Was he oblivious to the prejudice or was he sedated?

1. DJ is not a champion guarterback
2. Streeter bad play calling
3. Defense coach said he was going to make the plays more simple and look what happens
4. Dado to much in love with DJ.

I agree, obviously he is not "draft worthy" and obviously we have not tried to get Cade ready so why would he sit here for another year if he is not given a chance. This is not the same as DW or TL when they were clearly the future vs subpar senior starters but it doesn't appear (??) that Cade has been given the reps.

Re: “Coaches were poorly prepared”***

Nov 5, 2022, 11:28 PM

If coaching young college athletes was easy, and with the money that it pays everybody would be doing it. It very hard to coordinate a plan that big and have those young men to carry it out. And that is why it takes years of experience for a coordinator to get really good at what they do, and Dabo some how forgot that part of the job when he gave Goodwin and Streeter that huge responsibility with neither of them having that type of experience, and Dabo don't have that type of coaching experience so he can help them, and they are in way over their heads, and it started with Dabo, and he doesn't have coordinator experience either. Dabo is great CEO that is good and getting a coaching staff what they need, and that is where his coaching experience ends, but, he can get top coordinators all the tools they need to do a great job at what they do. Dabo made the mistake of thinking that he had seen it done enough that he could do it all. Dabo is a great CEO of college FB, but a great coordinator he isn't, and he best get busy trying to find two of some of the best in college FB that would want to come and work for him over a lot of other HC's, or he will lose the Clemson FB program!!!

100% lame effort across the board

Nov 5, 2022, 10:51 PM

Not seen a team so underprepared since the WVU game. I’ve been pretty forgiving of Dabo and staff, but this exposed serious lack of awareness on the coaching staff. I’m wondering if they even scouted ND before the game. Likely a good thing in the long run. Things need to be shaken up.

Re: 100% lame effort across the board

My thoughts exactly.

More time to prepare and it took the coaches 2 weeks to come up with this dud? Disappointed in the defense. Too inconsistent and didn’t look like they were mentally there in the final minutes. Streeter, however, should be catching a Greyhound back to Clemson tonight.

After he gets his walking papers

I loveDabo, but this loss is on the coaches…

Nov 5, 2022, 10:56 PM

… we had 2 weeks to prepare, the Gameplan was poor and they did not have the team ready for this game.

And I don’t understand pulling Cade so quickly. Sure, he threw a pick, but DJ threw a pick 6 too. Cade was behind the 8 ball and inside the 5 yard line trying to make something happen.

At that point, I would have left him in to finish out the game … it was over by that time anyway and I believe the benefit of letting him settle in would have outweighed burning him by taking him so fast. I don’t think that was handled well at all.

I hope he decides to stay with the Tigers. ?

Re: I loveDabo, but this loss is on the coaches…

Nov 5, 2022, 11:42 PM

I have to agree. And I'd like to have seen Cade get more time too. I've never seen us less prepared, and ND kept stuffing the same running play down their throats so many times that I lost count. I'm inclined to agree that both Godwin and Streeter had awful game plans. We lost the game, our winning streak, our ranking, and a lot of prestige. Haven't felt this shocked since the WVU game years ago. Just made thousands of fans sick, and very embarrassed. What a shame.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Exactly. Cade earned more time even with that pick.

Nov 6, 2022, 10:07 AM [ in reply to I loveDabo, but this loss is on the coaches… ]

We’re a different offense with him in. But since we haven’t been playing him with the ones (except for his saving our tails against SU) or hardly at all, he hasn’t gotten the needed experience to be better when we need him. Yeah, he’s more prone at this point to throw more picks but he more than makes up for it with his ability. He has the ability to bring us back from a moderate deficit that DJ can’t.

Nov 5, 2022, 11:07 PM

Team was absolutely flat... How are you flat going into South Bend?? And how was Cade so unprepared after the Syracuse game? Offense gave up 21 points if you count the blocked kick (considering the field position on the punt was due to the offense). That is not the first time that we have lost the game due to points off of the offense in the current DC/QB tenure. I am at a loss...

a beat down and man handled in every way. The Tigers were taught a lesson tonight. From the Coaches to the players the only admission is that Notre Dame was stronger, faster, smarter and way better coached. It will be a hard pill to swallow and now have to hear this team may be just a pretender. Remaining games will finish the rest of the story.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: This type of game has been coming all year

Nov 5, 2022, 11:47 PM

The only question that Dabo has to answer honestly to himself if nobody else, and that is did I make a mistake in placing Goodwin and Streeter in such an important position without anymore experience than they had, and his answer to himself better be yes, and he better get busy making plans to try and fix it by the end of the season while he has the talent at Clemson now. If he is so bull headed and insist on making his project work, he will lose everything that he has built at Clemson these past 13 years, in a short couple of years!!!!

Dabo has proved that he is a great CEO of college FB, and I hope that he realizes that he can't be a HC, a coordinator, and a position coach at the same time, bc he can't, he don't have the experience to do it either. Usually when a HC gets good enough to do it all, they are to old to do any of it. All he has to do is find two really good coordinators, and he get back to doing what he was doing before when he built Clemson FB into a championship FB program!!!!

Re: TNET: Pain in South Bend: Irish run roughshod over Tigers to hand Clemson first loss of season

Nov 5, 2022, 11:38 PM

Man that was frustrating to watch. Offensive play calling in the first half was just predictable. Either its because of DJ or its the coordinator. Dabo should know the answer to that. But with a week off how is the play calling look so unprepared and vanilla. I also think we are seeing a regression in DJ to where we were last year and it started in Syracuse game which we were lucky to win. I don't think the benching had the effect we were hoping for. If Cade is the future and the Atlantic division is clinched I say we roll with Cade for remainder of season. We aren't a national championship caliber team right now. Let's prepare for remainder of season and beat the coots one more time with an ACC championship!! GO TIGERS!

There were a couple of games we were lucky to win before tonight. What we saw tonight didn't start happening tonight. It started the second that Dabo chose not to hire the position coaches, and those players experienced coordinators!!!

Re: TNET: Pain in South Bend: Irish run roughshod over Tigers to hand Clemson first loss of season

Nov 6, 2022, 12:03 AM

I blame this loss on the coaches for sure. Their game plan for DJ was to treat him like he’s 1st grader in a game that required a 12th grader knowledge. The coaches should have never settled and reduced their standard of “Best is the Standard “ at QB. They didn’t do it with KB in 2018-19 season. They permitted TL to push and take over KB. They did not allow this for Klubnick this season. It made no sense for Dabo the bring Klubnick in that spot of the game if he wasn’t ready to move on for DJ after halftime. They never once this season prepared Klubnick to takeover the QB1 position like they did with TL freshman season. TL only played with the 1st string offense when he played his freshman year so it was easy to compare him against KB. Where as this season, coaches appeased DJ by never playing Klubnick with 1st team offense so you could compare who is better. They knew DJ could not handle that kind pressure as always with DJ he’s limited in how pressure he can handle. It was evident tonight against Norte Dame.

First of all I would like to say I am disappointed in how we played tonight..it was not pretty at all..but what I'm more disappointed in is all the negative comments from some of clemson nation. Its easy to support the team when all is great..but it says alot about the fan base and the unkind things being said when things aren't so good. What we are seeing right now is what most teams go through.. change and growth. Each team is different and each player is different..even from year to year. You have to go through growing pains in order to get better..just be patient. These players are still human and college kids at that. We need to get behind them along with Dabo and the coaching staff. They hear enough of the negative stuff from espn, fox and other media .get behind these guys, not tear them down. Imagine if your kids were playing on the team...would you want all that negative stuff directed at them? If you were the family of the coaching staff would you like it? Things will get better but it's gonna take time. Let's focus on the good this year..acc championship for one..we didnt get to go last year and now we will..baby steps..It's okay to be frustrated but no reason to be hateful. So with that..LET'S GO TIGERS !!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Terrible, conservative play-calling 1st 3 quarters. Bad OC.

Nov 6, 2022, 1:11 AM

For the 1st 3 quarters (until it was too late) Clemson's offensive play-calling was so conservative, predictable, stale, and vanilla-- same as it has been for the last 2-3 years. Dabo should have brought in a successful, high-octane OC to shake things up. It's frustrating to watch teams with high-octane offenses that have less player-talent than Clemson, and then watch Clemson's stale, inbred offense.

Streeter didn't seem to trust DJ to throw the ball downfield. DJ is pretty good, but he' a "B" level QB
and he seems to have hit his ceiling. Klubnik seems to have a higher ceiling, and could be an "A" level QB if he were given more experience, but it looks like Klubnik doesn't get many practice reps behind DJ. Unfortunately, I don't think DJ will get a first-day draft-grade, so he'll probably return-- which means Klubnik probably won't get a fair shot at the starting job because loyal-Dabo will once again say that "DJ has not done anything to not be the starter".
