Met Mr. Gabriel at York County Sports Hall of Fame ceremony where he was the speaker. He was very humble and kind. He had a great football career!

My dad used to say, “who do you think I am, Roman Gabriel?” when I would complain as a kid because he couldn’t hit me in the numbers with a pass.
Didn’t even know what he was talking about

Enjoyed watching him play in the NFL. Just read an article in which he considered basketball his best sport. His mother refused to let him play at NCSU feeling it would badly affect his academics. He did have difficulty his freshman year, bur later became an academic All American. He also had notable charity accomplishments.

Roman used to shove a receiver when he came back to the huddle if he dropped a pass or ran the wrong route. Ole white shoes Roman. NC state came to Clemson and I believe they were undefeated and they wore their white shoes. The Tiger Team I believe painted their shoes orange and beat the ole pack that day. I never liked Roman Gabriel. Please be free to correct this old mans memory of this if I'm not correct.

which I attended with family in our 4 great lower-deck north-side aluminum seats facing the sun!

I enjoyed his entire time supporting him as an Eagles fan up here in Philadelphia during his tenure here. He was a wonderful leader and community man as well. He played on the Eagles off-season traveling basketball team and was able to influence many who he crossed paths with during and after his playing years!

Wrong, he had been in the NFL with the Rams when we beat the white shoes NC State team

I remember his LA Rams football trading card when I was a kid. I also remember watching him in one of those John Wayne movies from the late sixties. Him and Merlin Olsen were both in it. Can't recall the name though.

When I was a boy Roman Gabriel was the first football card I ever got. Then there was an episode of "The Brady Bunch" where Bobby and Peter argued as to who was the better QB, Gabriel or Namath. Since he was my favorite football card I was in the Gabriel camp for that discussion and booed Namath's appearance oon the show. Although as a kid it was pretty cool to see Namath. Kids in rural America didn't get to go to any pro-football or even college games let alone see any football stars like that so putting them on a TV show was a super big deal. In short it is how I became a lifelong fan of football.

was the only NFL QB I knew of that played college ball anywhere close around here.
The Rams have really had a vagabond history, only to wind up back in LA after all the other stops along the way.

Kids don't remember playing against him. He was one of the few who could dominate a game. Another from there is Philip Rivers.
