Never forget the shock of seeing him covered in diesel oil. He was a snipe on the USS Eisenhower, I was in the air wing. Bout '77?

Jay was never on the Eisenhower...he was a Boatswain on the Iwo Jima and
also served on the Dixie.He left the Navy after less than two years with
an Honorable Discharge.

Don't know why I spent time looking for this, butt I knew my eyes didn't lie as him being on the ship was a big deal. Must have been some type of cross-training. Also don't understand why you would spend time trying to make it a sea story.

In 1979, the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) and the USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) deployed together, with the carrier's maiden deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and the amphibious assault ship's deployment to support the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

I will buy that but you indicated that he was on the
IKE and this doesn't validate that but no big deal.
BTW,you made it a sea story not me.
