Revolutionary Change Hot Durn

The debate around NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deals and player compensation is understandable, and yes, there’s a need for regulation, standards, and structured systems. Rest assured, those are on the horizon. But let’s be clear: this shift is a good thing. The NCAA had no business profiting off players for decades without fairly compensating them. That exploitative system is finally dead, and I couldn’t be happier.

Let’s face it—college sports have been professional for years. Programs like Clemson regularly pack 80,000+ fans into stadiums. How is that not professional? The difference now is that players are finally getting a share of the wealth they’ve generated.

Even more exciting is the prospect of a new super conference, independent of the NCAA. It’s time to leave behind the SEC, B1G, ACC, and the biased narratives pushed by ESPN. A fresh, unbiased structure for college football could make the sport fairer and far more enjoyable.

Here’s a great vision for the future: 5 years of eligibility to play over 5 years. From there, athletes either make it to the NFL, move on to a league like the UFL, or pursue a career in another field. It’s a system that prioritizes fairness and opportunity for everyone involved.

The old way is gone—and good riddance. The future of college sports looks brighter than ever.

Dabo didn’t think NIL is a good thing.

He said he’d quit if the players got paid

Context matters.

That’s not what he said. You’re either lying on purpose or can’t read. Which is it?

Maybe.

Why have any eligibility requirements if its a professional sport now?

Are there any other professional leagues that limit how long you can play? Why should we limit these kids ability to make money at the “college” level if they aren’t good enough to go to the professional pro level?

If it didn't have some kind of eligibility limits, can you imagine the talent out of HS that would be lost and forgotten about?

Just think of how many schools DJ could play for in your plan!

That fits along the lines with a post I made a couple weeks ago. As I said that the NCAA forced the issue with being sued by the players bc of the NCAA greed of not wanting to share a dime of money they being paid by the gaming institutions for using the players name, image, and likeness. They were taking lavish vacations from the money and not wanting to share a dime with the players and they would put a program on probation and charge them a ton of money in fines if a coach or a member of the school took a player to the burger joint and paid for the meal.

IMO everything that's happening with today's college sports, the NCAA"s greed is what caused it all. I've always been told that if you kick an old meek dog long enough, sooner or later it's going to bite, and that's what happen when those players sued the NCAA, the players got tired of being kicked around by the NCAA and bit back.

Personally, I was really hopping that the court fines would have been so high and made payable without giving them certain time periods that it had to be paid, that it would have Bankrupted the NCAA so bad that they would have caused the entire institution to turn belly up. That would have forced all of college sport to come up with another system to govern all the rules and regulations. And that most likely would have caused the firing of a bunch Refs and Umpires, that would have be awesome bc more than half of them shouldn't be on a field or court!!!

Doesn't look like SEC and B1G are interested in allowing a superconference.***

Not so fast my friend

Let’s see how this plays out over 3-5 years with even payments

Doesn’t look very good right now for long term stability

The fans in the South will never stand for the SEC, as we know it, to be done away with. Make no mistake the SEC is the basis for their 'religion'. We are attached to our own school's athletic program but the conference is more important than any individual member. What good is it if there is only one big challenge during the season and the rest of the conference is weak? That's no good. We want all schools to have the best facilities, the most fans, big stadiums and the best players. Best to you guys. Have a good New Year.

If the conference is independent of NCAA....

Dec 30, 2024, 8:09 PM

1. Why does college have to be a part of it anyway?
2. Why limit the players to 5 years?

But, your system is definitely the direction we are headed. The biggest unknown is if the SuperLeague will even contain the names SEC and B1G.

I’m actually okay with removing any time limits. And let’s remove the conference names bc it won’t matter anymore. It’ll be a mini-nfl model.

Wild idea. Let’s add-in the world’s model for sports relegation and promotion for clubs in different league divisions. Worst 3 NFL teams go to superleague. Beat 3 superleague teams go to NFL each year.
