But the actions of 1 mentally ill person does not represent a whole race, all gun owners, all conservatives, and all people that respect what the confederate battle flag stands for (and no, im not talking about slavery). While im finally ok with the flag coming down, this is a slippery slope. The actions of 1 or a few individuals should not cause repercussions for the larger majority. The flag didnt cause this. Fox news didnt. Guns didnt. The kid was mentally ill and we as nation have let the mentally ill down. While we worry over a flag... we should be worrying about mental health reform......

This kid was not mentally ill! I'm so sick and tired of hearing people claiming the insanity or mental ill card, and not taking responsibility for their actions. With that being said, this is a sports website, I personally believe political issues should be left off this board. Just saying….

there are plenty of really mean and hateful people that think only their way is correct. That does not mean they are mentally ill. A mentally ill person does not have the ability to say and demonstrate some of the things he has said and done. His plan was well thought out and was carried out step by step. A mentally ill person does not have the ability to do that. People saying he is mentally ill are only making excuses for him.

W/R/T the SSRIs, be very careful about accepting opinions or selected results as facts. There is a difference between correlation and causation. With correlation, one thing happened, and then another. For example, a troubled kid was prescribed antidepressants and then killed himself or someone else. Did he kill himself because of the antidepressants, or did the underlying problem that made the drugs look like a good idea to the doctor cause the violence? If I'm crazy and you give me a vitamin, then I kill someone, did the vitamin cause it? Probably not, but maybe, I expected to feel better and when I didn't, I took my rage out on whomever was right in front of me.

i don't know. But even if he is declared mentally ill, that is no excuse for what he did. Anyone who is that messed up, it's highly doubtful he could ever be functional in society. May as well go ahead and fry him.

The working definition of insanity and the legal definition are quite different. You can be crazy as hell and not be legally insane. Legal insanity is based on not knowing right from wrong.

Adam's first words when God asked 'Have you eaten of the tree...' was 'The woman gave it to me...The woman that YOU gave me...'
