You have to win two games no matter what and there are no pushovers in the final four.
When we have had the #1 seed who did we face in the first game? Oklahoma and Alabama.

want to be number 1. His “fake protest” is to make sure Clemson is NOT ranked #1. After his “rant” the committee can’t put Clemson #1 as that would look like they caved in to Dabo.
Why, you ask, would he do that? Simple, he knows that no final team ranked #1 has ever won the CFP Championship! Dabo is smart enough not to fight karma gods!

Weak ACC this year. Not our fault but conference is bad and two SEC opponents did not help. We just don’t have any wins over really good teams. However that will change soon enough.

Also, you could just as easily argue that Ohio State looks best using the eye test, or possibly even LSU as well.

The rankings depend a good bit on resume for this year. OSU and LSU are both undefeated and have multiple wins better than our best win. And the “defending national champion” shouldn’t go into a current year’s ranking. There are 3 clear elite teams this year and Clemson has played the easiest schedule. The #3 ranking is completely fair.

Clemson isn't #1 because LSU has four wins over Top 10 teams and Ohio State has four wins over Top 15 teams. Assuming LSU wins tomorrow, they will have another Top 10 win. If Ohio State wins, they'll have another Top 15 win. After Clemson wins tomorrow, they'll have exactly one win against a Top 25 team. There is your answer.

LSU does not have 4 top 10 wins. They have ONE win against a CURRENT top 10 ranked team. If you're going to use the criteria of where a team was ranked at the time they played, then Clemson has a win against a #12 ranked team. All of you SEC chanters do this crap when comparing schedules... use current ranks for Clemson opponents and then use the higher when they played ranks for SEC teams.
LSU's resume has 3 top 15 wins:
Texas - unranked
Florida - #9
Auburn - #11
Alabama - #12
Ohio State doesn't have 4 top 15 wins either (but they do have 4 top 20 wins):
Cincinnati - #20
Wisconsin - #8
Penn State - #10
Michigan - #14
You are correct that the reason that OSU and LSU are ranked higher than Clemson is due to the resume. Mullens was pretty clear about that when he was interviewed.
