About letting Wes go, he stated we would hire a DC at the end of the month or maybe sooner. To me that tells me our DC is still coaching. I pray hitslikerodricktaylor was right and we land Jim Leonhard. Besides him what coaches would be possible DCs that are in the playoffs in college and nfl?

Whoever he hires, moves have to be made to shore up the LB coaching. Assuming he don’t hire a coordinator that coaches them.

Everyone seems to think it is the Broncos DC, who is a DB coach. So that might indicate we need to hire a dedicated LB coach as well. This COULD mean Reed is out as well, through no fault of his own. I have seen many on here speculate that Reed wanted the DC job and would move on if he didn't get it anyway.

My understanding is that Leonhard is not the Broncos DC. He’s an assistant and only coaches the DBs.
The current Broncos DC is Vance Joseph. I read an article today indicating that he might leave the Broncos for a head coaching opportunity. If so, I wonder if that impacts what happens to Leonhard going forward - not sure if he’d be a DC candidate for the Broncos.

I think he may have a favorite but he is smart to hire a firm to do a national search of best of breed coaches to see if someone better pops up. I’m not convinced he has a committed candidate waiting in the wings.

Another interesting possibility is Tom Allen at Penn State. The biggest issue I see with getting him is that he has only been the Penn State DC one year. In today's world, who knows.

Chad Morris had only been the OC at Tulsa a year, he was a high school head coach before that. It worked out well.
