Rattler Impact

Jul 15, 2022, 12:04 PM

What kind of output do y’all think the Coots will have in offense this year with Rattler #### at QB?

no change

at least according to the delusional fan base, it is the next Joe Montana, Peayton Manning and Patrick Mahomes all rolled into one.

However, the actual results on the field always turn out to be substantially similar. There is a reason why their football program is built largely on failure. The most recent iteration of uof7c football won't be any different.

If Rattler wasn’t good enough to

Jul 15, 2022, 12:22 PM

Remain the starter at OU, with more talent around him, I don’t see this going well for the coots.

But I guess I could be wrong. Who knows, he might being the next Jake Bentley. ??

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don’t know, this fit could be magic

Jul 15, 2022, 12:27 PM

Rattler obviously has more potential than the QBs on their roster over the last few years. Note sure if his potential can be realized on the field. Also TBD if he has the folks around him to help him be successful beginning with the OL. My guess is he will take a pounding due to a leaky OL and it wont end well but who knows at this point.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Their OL and defense will still suck...

Jul 15, 2022, 12:38 PM

so I still think they will struggle to win six games.

Re: Their OL and defense will still suck...

Jul 15, 2022, 12:44 PM

His Offensive line is really bad. He will have to do a lot of scrambling and short passes. They won't realize this until game 2 or 3 because their defensive that they practice against is as bad as the OL.
When they actually play against a mediocre team on their schedule, it will become apparent.

They can be an 8-4 team with Rattler as their QB. He’s arguably the most talented guy they’ve ever had at that position.

I don’t think they have any elite RBs or WRs, but they have a lot of experience. They have a veteran offensive line, one that is slightly above average. They probably have a top 5 TE duo in the country, as both guys will play in the NFL.

The way their schedule lays out, the likely go 4-0 against Georgia State, Charlotte, SC State, and Vanderbilt. They likely go 0-2 against UGA and Clemson. Their remaining schedule goes…

@ Arkansas
@ Kentucky
Texas A&M
Missouri
@ Florida
Tennessee

I don’t think it’s unrealistic for them to finish 4-2 in those 6 games. I don’t trust any of those teams.

Re: Rattler Impact

Jul 15, 2022, 1:17 PM

This is the most realistic take.

Anyone thinking Rattler is lacking talent because of Caleb Williams overtaking him is lacking perspective. Caleb Williams is a freak in the same vein as DW4 and TL16.

That's not to say that he is on their level right now just the potential is there and there's a reason why OU didn't go back to Rattler last season after handing the reigns over to Caleb Williams.

8-4 prediction is probably solid enough -- they probably get a win they don't deserve and lose one they shouldn't. Rattler will be solid -- probably not a Heisman trophy finalist but enough for them to feel buzzed up come November only for us to remind them of their place and introduce him to the Kickin' Chicken tradition ;)

Maybe improve their offensive stats …no change in their win/loss record and 50/50 chance he throws a fit and blames his teammates during the season…

I won’t be shocked if he hits the portal again if the right NIL deal is put in front of him…
Only one season in Columbia…,

They went 6-6 with 3 garbage QBs last year. Pretty sure they’ll do better with Rattler behind center.

Excellent assessment! I would place A&M as another certain loss. Regardless, I see them going 3-3 in those 6, resulting in a possible 7-5 record.

Tennessee, Texas am, and Arkansas I think will floor them and then the others are toss ups
I agree with the 4-0 and 0-2 quotes

Re: Rattler Impact

Jul 15, 2022, 1:49 PM

He is obviously a big step up from what they had last year. They supposedly have better receivers this year. The Oline holds the key, which was bad last year. The line will be a year older, stronger and more reps so they may be improved, time will tell. Outside of UGA, A&M and us their schedule does not look that tough, all winnable games. They won 6 regular season games last year, so I will say 7-8 this year.

Jul 15, 2022, 6:46 PM

Rattler can be very very good. However, he literally gets “rattled” fairly easily by a heavy pass rush or after he makes a mistake or two. Once his confidence goes down, he’s done.

He’s not the most mobile QB ever their so their O-line will determine his success.

Wouldn’t past experience tell you no matter how great the QB, he can’t play with a bad offense line.

The Orange Crush is back Florida, Tennessee and Clemson. I thought they got the SEC to break that part of the schedule up years ago. THE SEC must hate them and the crutch they have been on the conference to bring it back again.

Jul 16, 2022, 10:19 PM

He wasn't fantastic at OU if you compare him to every other QB that's been there under Lincoln Riley. He's going to have significantly worse coaching and talent around him at USC.

Re: Rattler Impact

Jul 16, 2022, 11:03 PM

It will obviously be better…like how can something competent not be better?…and he is competent…but when pressured or rattled he throws it to the other team…and he will be pressured and rattled a lot at S Car…and his short dink and dunk throws to wr can’t be taken to the house because they don’t have those type of players!!! He will be better … but he’s in for a rough year compared to what he’s used to!!! Just my opinion!!
