Mickey Plyler regarded hard to be a fan investing interest in players. Sounds like RJ wasn't expecting to start and is why he left. See link:

"starting". Lots of times the bench players end up playing just as much and being as valuable of contributors. Is it just a status thing?

yep, just get better and it'll work out. He never impressed. Just gave rest to the starters instead of making the best of his time. oh well.

If he views himself as a future pro that’s not a ton of time for exposure compared to a regular starters minutes
It really sucks he’s leaving but that’s todays game and you have to be prepared. It happens at every school obviously.

How is this on Brownell? I’m not a Brownell fan but he started the best 5. Godfrey was not one of them. If he starts Godfrey, someone else doesn’t start and they transfer.

So does this mean PJ’s coming back? Or we have a transfer coming in who will start? Otherwise RJ would definitely be a starter.

Godfrey could start against teams without a good big man. We need a bigger body that's capable of providing starters minutes against those with a low post threat.

All coaches have to do is start 12 players each game, pay each of them millions and this transfer circus will stop. Pretty simple solution.

is still 100% correct, and this response does nothing to discredit the main point. Pampered kids who would rather pack it in and go somewhere else than work for something, beyond a sad trend for today’s society.

True, they expect to start, but they are also chasing a bigger payday. How many of us have left a good job for a "better" one, which usually includes a larger salary or better role in the business. Like it or not, we are now in the age of NBA lite. Fans are likely to be even more frustrated or disengaged, and who can blame them? But it's the reality of NIL. Coaches are recruiting and negotiating salaries with freshmen and kids in the portal (AKA free agency) in order to field a competitive team. The more money you have as a coach, the better your chances of success. In this environment, it's hard to sell prospective players and fans on the intrinsic value of a Clemson education and tradition, a family environment, and player development (AKA waiting your turn).

How is the starting lineup for next November

determined on April 12? I think it's fair to say RJ wants to start at 4, not 5. But he's the starter at 5 beyond any doubt right now

So, has the basketball team started practicing and the starting lineup has been set for the November 2024 opening game? That's news to me and I guess we'll be seeing the NCAA on campus. That's a BS response. Mr. Godfrey is throwing some shade to cover that stack of money.

It is very possible during the year end review with each player CBB told RJ what he had to do in order to start or based on who we have coming in he like's RJ's role of coming off the bench. Just speculation but sometimes kids don't like the harsh reality of what his coach tells him. I was thinking he would most likely start next year or be 6th man. Hate to lose him.

in exit interviews.
Brad wouldn’t told him he is unlikely to start next year unless there is a very good reason.

Typical entitled behavior by an "adult". Likely the apple didn't fall too far from the tree.
Dad is a tool, and probably needs to grow up a little.

It's about time we stop using the word "commitment" it doesn't mean squat anymore. Maybe just say someone "signed" with a team instead of "commited"

Starting definitely not everything, but he seemed to ignite the team when in. I do believe Brownell could’ve used him a bit more.
