Question for those that watched Clemson in the early 80's:

Was there ever a player for Clemson back in the Danny Ford days that wore Batman logos on his uniform?
I know that sounds odd - I have this old neighbor and we talk about Clemson all the time, and without fail, he always brings up "that dude that used to wear the Batman logos on his (shoulder pad area). He was baaaaad son, let me tell ya..."
I don't have a clue who he's talking about, so I just kind of nod and smile and agree. I was just a kid then and don't remember any of that, and I've spent way too much time digging online, looking through Google images of our old rosters for this Batman character, so thought I'd come to the experts. Anyone know what he's talking about, or has he lost his mind?
Seems like something that wouldn't be allowed - or at least not today, anyway.

No one that I recall. Ford was strict and I doubt he tolerated any self promotion. It was all about the Paw.

I think he came to Clemson on a recruiting trip and some of our fans nearly got in NCAA trouble for doing something Batman costume related when he was on campus. That was in the early 200's I think.
The only "Batman" football player I ver remember from the 80's era was Richard "Batman" Wood that played for the Tampa Bay Bucs. He was a true baddass.
He wore Batman logos on all his pads, as you can see iin the pic:

Thank you for this. After all the digging I've done, I'm convinced this is who he has to be referring to. Not a Clemson athlete, but all else makes sense. I'm going to run this by him, but I'm pretty certain this is who he's talking about.

Not with Ford as coach.
Only time I saw anything that wasn't standard uniform was when Obed came out for his first kick wearing his soccer socks...solid orange up to the pants.
He wasn't wearing it on his next trip out onto the field.
