Question for CBProf

CBProf® I’m curious to know how long it usually takes for you to write up one of your Clemson ____ seasons ago comments on OJ’s Hill Watch’s. Also when do you put it together? Do you write each of your historical Clemson lessons the day your gonna post them on Hill Watch or do you write multiple “lessons” in one sitting, save them and then post them when your ready to?
For me and my Daily Player Spotlights, it usually takes me about 15-20 mins to do one player and 30 mins to an hour for me to write up 2 players. I’m a procrastinator so I write each of my spotlights the day before I post them to Hill Watch.

Thanks, Clemsonsince08!
This has been a lot of fun for me. I have been enjoying doing these season recaps very much! I suspect you have enjoyed putting together your excellent player profiles as well.
Summarizing each season in the first few decades of Clemson football went quickly. Each of those early seasons probably took fewer than 15 minutes to recap.
Somewhere around the 1960s-1970s, recapping each season started taking longer. I think that happened because more information about each season became available. It now takes me about 20-30 minutes per season. That includes looking for images and/or videos as well as highlighting a particular player or coach for that season.
I tend to write one or more seasons when I feel I have some free time (i.e., instead of turning on the TV, etc). For most of the spring/summer, I have been writing the season summaries several weeks ahead of time. Currently, I have written a summary for each season through 2017. I fully expect the glorious 2018 season will take a bit longer than most seasons to recap.
Thanks, and I enjoy your player profiles each day as well!

Very good work, which reveals how much you “dig” for the stories. Thanks for sharing your hard work with us. Go Tigers, the real ones in the real DV!

CBProf® Lol I didn know what to call your messages. So I just called them “ Clemson ____ seasons ago comments” or “Lessons”but “season recaps” works way bettor.
It’s interesting that we both have different write up schedules. With me waiting until the day of to write my Spotlights and you writing your Season recaps several weeks ahead. We both make it work though.
Now I am planing on posting a daily spotlight about Clemson’s current coaches. I’ll post them as its own post, separately from OJ’s Hill Watch. There are 13 official coaches on Clemson’s roster so I’ll be doing a daily countdown starting Aug 18th. I already have 2 of the Coaches spotlights written. I’m planing on writing the rest of them between now and Aug 18th. So all my Coaches Spotlights should be all typed up by the time I start posting them in a few weeks. While I will still be typing up my Player Spotlights daily.
Best Wishes on writing your last 7 Season recaps. I hope the 2018 season doesn’t give you too much stress to write about. 2018 is gonna be a fun season to read about but I can imagine it to be a hassle to research that much and then you have to organize and choose what to put in your 2018 recap. So happy writing! Don’t let the writers block get you.

Y'all do a great job with the "stories"

I enjoy reading them and learn a lot too. You see players from different backgrounds and different times and the things they endure and accomplish as an individual and part of a team.
I appreciate the effort you guys give bc I did my little stories last year in the Hill Watch where I matched the countdown day with a highway or road in the southeast and discussed something significant along that road or near it like state parks, military sites, etc, and included text and pics.
Sometimes the stories were easy and took about 20 minutes. Other times, it was harder to find stuff and a story would take up to an hour. I usually saved two to four in Word docs as I had time, but sometimes made them last minute.
It was extra effort, but the stories were fun and I learned a lot. It was like another hobby.

Your Highway countdown stories sounds like it was fun to read last year. I feel like there is a mutual respect between the 3 of us because we know how tedious these “hobby’s” are to do but we still like to do them.
So far most of my spotlights have been less than 30 mins but I know that might change real soon. The day after tomorrow will be the last single player spotlight. The rest of the jersey numbers 24-0 (except #4, cause it’s retired) have 2 players who wear the same number. Not only will I be researching 2 players but I’m getting to the star players now too. The star players will have a bunch of info and videos for me to post about. So me writing my spotlight will take much longer. I’m up for the task though.
