Question about tailgating... Are dogs allowed?

I know a lot of people come just to tailgate, and don't go into game. Does anyway ever bring their dogs with them? Are they allowed?

Why would anyone want to do that? Even a well behaved dog isnt going to enjoy it or you either. Its like bringing a toddler into the game. WHY??????

Do you really want to know why

or just want to express your opinion about why you wouldn't want to bring one?
I could go into a long diatribe about why I asked the question, but I doubt you're really interested in my answer.

As long as you pick up after them, you have them under control (leash, etc) and they don’t go nuts over fireworks or the cannon (because the cannon will be going off a lot today) it is cool.
I assume someone is hanging back at the tailgate during the game too. I wouldn’t feel comfortable myself if not, but everyone has different anxiety levels about their pups.

Thanks! We've gotten lots of great comments since we've had him!!
All the things you listed were a given (picking up after, on a leash, etc). He's done well with loud noises (he just kinda turns his head at them).
I really wanted to come up and walk around campus and walk through the botanical gardens with my GF and Ben (that's his name). My GF hasn't seen much of campus and I thought it would be fun for us to walk around with him.
We have a SUV and his bed and crate would have been in the back were he could sleep with the back lift open and us tailgating right next to him.
For the game, she would have stayed behind with him.
Unfortunately, plans kinda fell apart for today, but I was still curious about future games.

Seriously? My Rottweiler/ Shepard mix is so well behaved; is a real member of the family and would have his feelings hurt if we left him at home. Pets are better that the majority of people on this planet - caring, giving, dedicated, working and would literally die for any member if their family.
I agree that some breeds would be miserable, but, the worker breeds in particular are so dedicated and well behaved - our doggie puts on his big Sad face when we leave him home
