Tough Weekend

Tough Weekend
I thought this past weekend would be filled with Clemson basketball, Tiger Woods at Torrey Pines, and a great day of recruiting news with Clemson's junior day Saturday.

The first and third parts of the weekend turned out to be better than expected, but this weekend was one

I didn't know Mike, but I am thankful to call Gary and Rebecca friends. The world could use a lot more of people just like them. Kind, caring and would do anything in the world for you. I will never forget how my heart sunk when Rebecca called the wife to tell us the news. It was a tough weekend, indeed.

When I donated a kidney to a co-worker on the day of the All-In Ball in April 2012, Mike had Dabo send me a handwritten invitation to the next All-In Ball. Whenever I had a question about future All-In Balls the next couple years, he always returned my phone call or email promptly.

Mickey, both sound like incredible men and it is a shame they are no longer here. My dad passed away Dec 15th and I was not able to share the Championship run with him. Like you, I most remember daily interactions: phone calls, impromptu lunches and stopping by his house after work. You see, he was a Furman and USC grad but "allowed" me to go to Clemson and was fully supportive from day one. I spent a lot of my childhood at Sirrine Stadium and Williams Brice but once I visited Clemson, I was hooked.

Like your friends, my dad was always there for me. It has been a long 6/7 weeks but I am making my way the best I can. Thank you for sharing your memories and reminding us it IS the little things that make like so much better.
