Played my first solo round of golf in my life jounge

and the 3rd round total in my life. Bought my first set of clubs Friday for $100.
Went Sunday to walk 9 holes. I didn't know they don't allow walking on weekends.
Let me just say, sand traps are the unsung heroes of the golf course. When I top the #### out of the ball with my 6 iron on a par 3, the sand trap always keeps my ball from going off into the woods behind the green.
Set a PR. Didn't lose my ball until the 7th hole so that's a plus.
Shot a 63. So this is my starting point.

Doubt I've ever shot a 63 on a solo 9 round hole.
First few times I played, I lost over 20 balls.

I'm not sure if there's a word for double par. But all of those I was on the green and close to the hole.
Didn't count 3 tee shots.
So adjusting for those, probably around 70 total.

when you got to 8, you picked up your ball and went on to the next hole... plus you didn't count 3 tee shots...
So 8*9 = 72, minus 3 tee shots... 69. So playing by your rules, Terry Schauvo could have shot a 69. You shot a 63. Let's go ahead and assume you're stretching that number by 3-5 shots.... You shot a 68. Terry Schauvo would have shot a 69.
I'm less impressed.

Hole 1: Par 4, picked up at 8 (but was about 3 feet from the hole)
Hole 2: Par 3, double bogeyed.
Hole 3: Par 4, sunk at 7
Hole 4: Par 5, sunk at 8
Hole 5: Par 4 sunk at 7
Hole 6: Par 3, topped the #### out of my tee shot so I didn't count it. Sunk in 5 (really 6).
Hole 7: Par 4, teed off 2 into the woods, didn't count those, picked up at 8 (really would have been 12).
Hole 8: Finally got my swing right on this long par 5. Sunk at 7.
Hole 9: Par 4, Sunk at 8.
So on the card: 63.
Reality: 69

this messican dad sent his daughter (couldn’t have been older than 7-8) to pass through the line saying she was finding her family up towards the front and then just waited there alone. Then he came in like 5 min later saying he was looking for his daughter and skipped the line up to her. Pork tenderloin called it a messican fast pass. I tried to one up her by saying he deserves the “Chris Benoit Father of the Year Award”. The guy behind me groaned very loudly at that. He was not jounge material, and apparently hated obscure pop culture references.

For a while I would not use any iron but 6 iron through wedges, no matter where you are playing.

and a shorter shaft.
Big difference on distance (wood is longer), but supposed tradeoff is more accuracy with the hybrid. Plus "easier" to hit.

they are really meant to replace long irons. 3 hybrid = 3 iron distance-wise.
Since the general golfer finds it very difficult to hit long irons, hybrids are the "easier" alternative. Most folks can hit woods for distance OK....just maybe not straight as they want. But even the pros have issues with the straight part hitting fairways and greens.
