Way too high IMO. He's crediting a lot of the high ranking to the fact that Tate and Parks are returning. I don't think he mentioned the addition of Luke to the coaching staff, but that may play a role as well. 9th in the country though seems like a stretch.

Steel does not even watch 1/10th of the games played, he just looks at stats. his recruiting rankings are also unique.

I'll have to respectfully disagree until I see it on the field. I doubt we've ever had a top 10 offensive line and I can't imagine this is gonna finally be the year.

9th??? I've always read Steele's preseason magazine but I may have to pass this year. Not sure what he's seeing that the rest of us are missing, but the unit I saw last year wasn't even in the top 50 so not sure of the rational behind this big leap in just one season with no new additions. I believe Coach Luke is definitely one of, if not the best, Oline coaches in college football. I think in 2 - 3 years from now the position will be awesome. If Coach Luke can turn a group who last season looked like tomato cans wearing cinder blocks to a unit that can blow teams off the ball consistently he is better than I thought.

His rankings are kind of algorithm based and not based on eye tests ….
He’s been doing this for many years and has an interesting pov versus a typical
ESPN talking head…

Our Offensive line should be rated #1, we are the best of the best because we are Clemson. I see some of y’all let the media and critics get to you.
A real Tiger knows we are always the best of the best. It’s a beautiful Saturday morning and no way do we lose today no matter who we play.

If he saw any one game I would hope it was the ND game.
If you recall, we pushed them up and down the field with a unit that was cobbled together due to several starters being out for various reasons
The talent is there .He only needs to create a depth chart that best utilizes a formidable unit that will continue to make strides weekly
Incidentally, Phil Steeles preseason publication has been the most accurate 18 consecutively years.
That's a strong resume.

To be truthful we have individual talent along our o-line. The big problem with the group last year is that they had a hard time gelling together and playing as a group which is a must a long the line.
Another problem is that the line (and the entire offense) would get soft in big play situations. Hence why we had so many failures in 3rd and short.
If Luke can light a fire under some butts and get the group to play together this could be our best o line in a long while
