But I remember I was the only one, or one of them, who continued to praise how good this baseball team was even through the first half of season. I kept preaching to y’all about our roster talent is more important than the tough patch.
After the WF series, I said exactly what was going to happen. We played Wake very close in 2 games, and didn’t look that bad against them.
This team is national championship level, and I knew it all along.
Our lineup is just simply too GOOD to slow down again. Maybe we shouldn’t expect a CWS Final, but it is one of the best feelings I’ve had about Clemson baseball now under Erik Bakich. We are on our way back to national dominance, I promise you that. The pitching will only get better. Bakich got Tristan Smith who was a top ranked overall recruit in the nation as a pitcher, and pitching recruiting will get even better. Really like the job Jimmy Bellanger has done with the staff.
This is for all of you people who casted doubt and continue to do so.

I respectfully think you are blowing your horn too soon.
This team has gotten a lot better through out the season. And we are a much better hitting team than we were early in the year.
This team lacks the relief pitching though that an run in Omaha requires. That’s been a consistent issue all year long, and it’s a really important part of winning championships
I definitely think this team is super regional material and could make it to Omaha if the bats stay hot and we get a few balls to bounce our way

Glad you were right and I like this team, they are obviously playing well. I think coach is doing a great job and has us a heading in the right direction, but I want to win a regional before I say we are back. Hope the team just focuses on winning the next game.

Pitching is still somewhat shakey at times but they have come a long, long way. I was one of the doubters.

I would post after the season ends and say something like, “I really thought we were going to win it all this year.” It doesn’t really take much to say that, so I would.
It was a month ago, there’s no way I can prove it. It’s in the archive at this point. I remember distinctly thought that we played very well against Wake. Had two 1-run losses to them and then went on to Run Rule Coastal Carolina.

Ammons is that guy, he had a poor showing against VT, but he is a really good pitcher.
He doesn’t have elite stuff though. Really only 2 of our starters have really good pitches, but not elite quite yet. Pitching recruiting will pick up a lot. Bakich already brought in Tristan Smith, who was a top-30 overall player.
But our pitching is so backed up by our hitting that it hasn’t mattered against previous opponents. It will when we get to the deep postseason though.

I agree for the most part I feel like the floor is regionals the ceiling is Omaha. If we some how pull off the Natty then the bats stayed HOT! The main two concerns I have with this team as I'm sure any true fan watching every game this season is...pitching depth. Our starting rotation is lacking a true back end with 3-5. Our Bpen is all over the place. No true set up man & closer we can 100% depend on. Best part is this is season #1 imagine season 3 & 4!! Go Tigers!!

I never EVER believed roster talent was the issue. The state of SC has too much of it, and Clemson recruits too well for it to be the main issue.
People complaining about "talent" remind me of chicken-little yelling "the sky is falling". Seems Brad Brownell, and Tommy Bowden back in the day had lots of these kind of supporters.
I wasn't sure about Bakich one way or the other, but knew it would take time, probably at least one-two full seasons. I'm happy for Clemson baseball, the players, coaches, and fans. We're a Football school, but baseball is and always has been part of our identity (all deference to women's LAX, the basket weaving team, etc...).
Bakich has them playing well, and it's nice to see Clemson Baseball seemingly back where it belongs.
