For example: On the FMS 6200, when you receive the CPDLC message, “SET MAX LATENCY TIMER”. What is the proper response?

In real life it is automated; it gets sent out if the receiving aircraft is known, by flight plan codes, to have FANS-1/A+ (the plus) capability. However, it is indeed not a canned message code. It is technically free text.
If it would be a canned message code, there would be no need for the pilots to set the darned timer by hand! :-/

I know what it means, but after my cataract surgery last week, I was told not to operate jet aircraft for at least two week!

Just because Venables "trained" him, as you say, doesn't put him on that level. You could be Einstein, but that don't mean your kid can do physics! The guy understands football, has a really high football IQ, but that doesn't make him a good Coach! Coaching involves a lot of intangibles that are more about feel for the game, relationships with players, motivation or inspiring the best, etc. It's time to move on, and find a real COACH, not a really smart analyst.
