Paul Finebaum reacts to possible move by Clemson, FSU

“Clemson to me, quite frankly doesn’t bring that much,” Finebaum said. “I know it brings a national championship program from a couple of years ago. Clemson won twice, but from a geographical standpoint, I don’t think they had anything. I think South Carolina already covers the area in that part of the world very well.
“I think Florida State is similar. I don’t think they’re nearly as attractive as they think they are. Besides, Florida already covers that part of the world. And so I think Miami to me, it would be next. I think it’s an important part of the country. It’s a very populated part of the country too.”

Imagine Finebaum talking smack about Clemson. Whodathunkit? But reporter? Really? SEC propagandist. He said the same stuff before we went to the playoff five times straight and handed Bama their heads twice. He'll talk the same junk after we go to the playoffs five more times and win two more rings.

What value does Texas bring if you already have TEx AM
What value does Vandy bring if you already have Tenn
What value does BAma have if you already have AUburn?

You have some excellent points. However, the SEC really wanted Texas all along instead of the Agroid cult program, they settled on AM because Texas refused because of cheaters. Now, my guys have stooped to that level because of the image of having to be in the SEC for recruits to make it to the NFL, which is a load of bull. Recruiting really is easier in the SEC, but now cheating is legal for everyone that is willing and able to play the NIL game.
Texas also brings money to the conference and a great deal of it. In fact, by far the richest D1 school in the country. That's what they were really after all along, so that at least makes some sense. Personally, as a huge Texas Longhorn fan I didn't want to be in the SEC with our little sisters down the road. I don't want Aggys in my life anymore than I have to and sadly I do have a few Agroid relatives which I have to see occasionally.
The SEC has always had a major evil plan to destroy all other conferences. Foolbaum is just a little weenie that buys into all the nonsense and he's just a useful toy for the conference.
Also, other conferences such as the ACC, the Big 10 and the Pac 12 actually care about academics and the SEC does not whatsoever. Georgia Tech left that league decades ago over that and the SEC still hates them with a passion because of that. Vandy is the only school in that league that really cares about the grade aspect of students and you see how they do on the field of play.
Fartbaum has always hated FSU because they rejected the SEC when Bowden was there. There's many bad things about FSU and probably they belonged in the SEC all along because they are as corrupt as anyone out there and that's well known.

Unlike those teams, Clemson will bring lots of value the usuc never has, nor ever will. They were signed on to be yet another conference doormat like most of the rest of them not named AL, LSU or ugay.

That shows how much PF knows about the markets in this area. Clemson is in the 37th ranked market in the US, compared to Columbia's 77th ranked market.

That's what I assumed, but Greenville is not really "Clemson". The Greenville market is substantial, the "Clemson market" is not. There are a good many coots in Greenville.

Regarding the first three, those schools are already in the conference, so it's not an issue. It would only be relevant if Mississippi St., for example, was not in the conference, but wanted to join.
On Texas, you have more of a point.

In a similar vein, Alabama would have that part of the country covered so no need for Auburn. Texas will cover that part of the country, so no need for A and M. And Kentucky probably doesn’t need Missou.
If a larger SEC or BIG 10 could return an enhanced contract above and beyond what they’re currently making, you bet they’ll add more teams. But athletes, politicians, and courts are gonna see that rainbow pot and sue for 50% or more based on”fairness.”
It’s a no-win scenario for almost all collegiate sports programs.

The “market” comment is legacy media and old minded. Today is about views and Clemson and FSU both bring that in spades. Miami not so much unless they are playing said Clemson/FSU. Other points made in the responses here also play a role which is playing defense against the big10 stealing share and recruits from these “markets”

would ever welcome a Clemson addition to the SEC. We gobsmacked his "Best of All Time" Bama team in 2018, and he will never forgive OR forget it. Any casual fan could be forgiven for assuming that Pawl is a Bama Alum, instead of the actual Tennessee Buttlicker that he is.

looking at it from that perspective. The thing about Miami is while it is one of the top 20 tvs per household market, they never rate very high for actually watching. People have better things to do there and many dont even speak english or have the slightest clue what the game even is. Besides, Miami has about 5,000 actual fans that care and the rest just show up when the wins pile in.

Yup, lots of heads. Somehow didn’t translate to value.
Boston and Pittsburg are two of the greatest sports cities in the country. Rabid sports fans. But neither market seems to be paying dividends for college football.
Pitt won the conference a year ago and they are in the lower half of the conference in terms of viewership [1].
At the end of the day, its the product on the field. Geography only comes into play with regards to recruits identifying with a place, not total population. And while that sort of links to “product on the field”, previous success is stronger.
But Paul is literally here to stir the pot. Let him just rot on his vine. Let less reposts of his nonsense, the better.
