PATHETIC

Mar 28, 2018, 11:00 PM

If the story about C.J. and Jadar is true I hope they’re punished severely. Pathetic showing of Clemson Football and what we have established here.

Doesn't reflect on Clemson football at all in my opinion .
It certainly reflects on those young men's poor decision making , that is a certainty .
Hoping that there may be a big mistake here somehow .

Yes it does reflect on Clemson football like it or not.
These 2 are still on campus doing these crimes , so how does it not reflect on Clemson football.
It’s the same as if they were apart of this years team.
Nothing the NCAA can do about it but people will have different opinions about Clemson football because of this.

They might have committed the crime on Clemson City property... But what part of FORMER is not clear? Neither are part of the program, both left early for themselves... Both thought for themselves again and now might pay for it. I'm quite sure that is not anywhere close to what this program represents, teachers, or condones. They left the program, and this is their decision on their own.

Everything written about this will have the word Clemson in it.
C.J. Fuller is a mere few months removed from Clemson.
No Clemson doesn’t allow this kind of behavior but it still reflects on Clemson football.
This is the kind of stuff other programs that wish they were Clemson love to see.

Re: PATHETIC

Yes it will have Clemson on it.. No doubt. But it didn't reflect on the program. They both got in zero trouble while IN the program. What this shows for CJ is his own personal battle that caused him to drop from 1st to 4th string, to leave the program... To do this. This does not reflect on any teaching of the program... It reflects on bad choices. In the end he not Jadar are currently party of the program... They are former, and did this after leaving. One has a background of losing 4 doors in last year's depth chart and choosing to transfer.. The other graduated, went on a NFK Scout team, and retired before he ever got cut or made a team... To try to come back a year later. Neither exemplify cream of crop of the program unless you are a twisting coot writer.

Were they wearing their uniforms ?
Was a coach with them ? Are they both still on scholarship and actively participating in spring practice ?

If you can answer yes to ANY of those questions then yes , Clemson football has been poorly represented by these two young guys who stand accused of the crime .
If not , then I say again ... Clemson football isn't held in any poor light by the actions of Johnson and Fuller .

Re: PATHETIC

Mar 29, 2018, 2:28 AM [ in reply to Re: PATHETIC ]

I totally agree. And I believe Dabo will feel like he failed these young men in some way even though he gave them his best. I am really surprised by Jadar Johnson being involved in something like this and C.J. Fuller.

This is why I am not on the side of paying players. They receive a free education, books, room and board, food, physical and psychological training and treatment, travel, and many other amenities that most students don’t enjoy. They can come back and stand on the sidelines for games and always have an in to the athletic department. I know Dabo works hard to help those who aren’t NFL prospects to find good jobs. Many of these kids are given an opportunity most kids have to go into $60K to $70K just to obtain a Clemson degree.

I hope these guys are made examples of and receive the strictest punishment the law allows. If you cut them some slack it may not get their attention. This is the time while they are young where Dabo and the legal system can use this incident to prevent future athletes from going down the wrong path and possibly stop C.J. , Jadar and the other kid from doing something worse.

Some transfers work out but IMO most players that sign a LOI to play for Clemson are much better off if the stay even If they do not get the playing time they want. Clemson is a special place and Dabo and his staff and the family environment at Clemson usually turn boys into to fine men who leave Clemson and represent the University in a very positive light. 99% of the athletes that play at Clemson leave much better men and women then when they arrived. C.J. Fuller should have stayed at Clemson and then he would have benefited from being at Spring practice. I am not sure about Jadar did he graduate? If not he would have benefited too by being a part of the team and in spring practice. The Duke kid I don’t know much about but it is an embrassment to Clemson because of the media attention C.J. and Jadar received while part of the football program. More than anything it is tragic for these young men and the bad decisions they made today.

We need to pray for these young men. We don’t want them to become part of the system in and out of trouble most of their lives because these lives are usually short.

This is certainly the rational thinking about this situation, but the fan bases of other teams will play this up big time as a Clemson problem. We won't hear about it but rival coaches and recruits will be talking about it. Human nature is a ##### sometimes.

What does Clemson football

Mar 28, 2018, 11:04 PM

Have to do with these two individuals?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The key word is "former" Clemson football players.

Mar 28, 2018, 11:07 PM

Even before this happened they were no longer associated with the team.

The dookies will say there guy was hanging out with 2 former Tigers and got arrested in Clemson attempting to rob someone.

Unfortunate

Mar 28, 2018, 11:23 PM

But it's impossible keep tabs on all players at all times, let alone former players. They are still individuals at the end of the day

Re: Unfortunate

Mar 29, 2018, 12:29 AM

Lol... Just a point, why would any coach or program have to keep up with a former player ever? Once they are in former status, the coach has zero responsibility... The kids himself and his family are now the responsible ones. The Clemson program kept both straight their entire tenure as players... Their possible mistake came 1) in leaving And 2) after they left. Either way, they are not part of the Clemson program, and one even had a degree. No excuse... If you want to see the program side of it, see Dabo's interview a few days ago, that he started he was happy for Jadar... To work on his mental issues. I think that says the coaches knew he was having issues inside that he chose to not to accept their help.

Re: Unfortunate

Mar 29, 2018, 4:38 AM

I agree with you but as a former coach at the High school youth age group you feel like they are always your kids and you hope you had a positive impact on their lives and when something negative happens you wonder what you could have done better or different.

One of my kids died from drug abuse in his 30’s and it hurt me. And I ask myself several times what I could have done better to help this kid. Even though he was no longer my responsibility,I still felt like I could have done something different to get him on the right path.

We need to all remember that they are innocent until proven guilty. Just because someone accused them of it, doesn’t mean they actually did it. There have been many cases of false accusations over the years. Let’s give the police time to investigate before we cast judgement.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes Dabo has created a criminal culture

Mar 29, 2018, 12:03 AM

and this program needs to shut down. Everyone needs to be fired because these two represent everything Clemson sports and clearly we have major problem.

I hope you sense the heavy sarcasm....

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

lol--this, of course, will be the ongoing theme on fgf

Mar 29, 2018, 1:11 AM

for weeks to come...."criminal culture at Clemson" will supposedly deflect some of the horrible PR heaped on 5 Points the last few months.

Loved the headline in the Charleston P&C which didn.t state FORMER players--it prominently states two players "From National Championship Team" arrested for armed robbery

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Isn’t the police dept supposed to sweep this sort of thing under the rug?

Problem with this is part of the recruiting pitch is that Dabo and company don’t just teach football, but teach how to be a better person. It’s all about the culture and family. This will be used against us in living rooms for recruiting. Very sad for C.J. and Jadar and I truly hope there is a reasonable explanation.
