This 4 point beat-down of Duke went better than my first Clemson game...Homecoming 1976. Duke's Vince Fusco kicked a then ACC record 56 yd. FG on the last play of the game to get the tie. Hit the cross bar and flipped over.

1974 was a very good year, 7-4 winning all home games…
The only winning season in a NINE (9) season losing run. We had all gotten used to losing games in Death Valley, always plenty of empty seats…
Followed by 5-15-2 over the next two seasons (75-76). A couple of horrible seasons! We got blown out more than a tailpipe on on a Hot Rod! We had some good players, but played awful as a team.
Danny Ford was a blessing for Clemson! I always wanted Danny back! We all had our prayers answered with Dabo, and we need to appreciate what we have!
The only reason I mention this, is for the fans that were upset with a 10-3 season last year! Disappointing, but a great coaching job, and a solid team showing their character. We need Dabo for the next 20 plus years….

Yeah, see attached. Back when an undefeated home season was unexpected.

My first Clemson game was homecoming 1973 vs Virginia sitting on the hill, so these videos have brought back some memories. The Duke game in '76 the guys above are talking about was my first game getting to sit in the stands since tickets were more available during Red Parker's last 2 lousy seasons. It was eerily quiet leaving the stadium since the long field goal was last second and unexpected.

Thank you.
I was one of those little kids running around the field after the game. Great memories!

It may be blasphemy to some, but I much preferred the concrete wall panted orange around the entire bottom of the stadium. It was unique. The brick veneer look is overly generic. Was that some green grass visible on the left side of the hill at the start of the game? Fire Marshall strikes again I guess.
Also, when viewing any crowd footage more than a couple of decades old, I'm always amazed at how normal sized everyone is compared to today.
Thanks for posting these.

Couple of observations...
1) Many people have commented on this board that The Tigers used to run down The Hill in one large mass of players. Well apparently in 1974 they ran down The Hill single file, similar to today.
2) The audio is obviously much better quality than the video, which makes me think the audio was probably added from more recent recordings. I was thinking Tiger Band didn't play The Orange Bowl March in 1974, but I could be wrong since that was before my time. What's the verdict old timers?

You are correct. The 8mm film did not have audio. I added the audio over the top of the video just to have something instead of silence..
