But I don't fear some white trash, Wal-Mart tshirt buyin', 1994 Buick drivin', welfare check gatherin', doo-doo ice drinkin', uneducated gamecock bandwagon fan flashing his hand at me "FIVE IS THIS MANY! HU HU HU"

could actually count all the way to five (the thumb) automatically became the student body president, and hence, "fear the thumb."
Many years there was no student body president.

The coots came up with fear the thumb years ago, because they thought that a chicken had 3 fingers and a thumb. Years ago when all of them would get together to fight their chickens. They would always say that those metal spurs they used on their fighting chickens were hard to get on their thumbs. They actually believed that the TOE at the back of their chickens leg was a thumb. And that is where they came up with fear the thumb.

Yes but, the coots thought that the Roosters spur was a thumb, and they were to be feared with the metal spur. Just more coot logic in reviving their fear the thumb slogan.
