Open Letter to Micah Rogers

Dear Mr. Rogers:
I know that you are reading this based on some of the testimony in your recent trial. I'm sure also that you're visiting this site and others similar to see what is being said about you in light of your "victory" yesterday. I suspect that you're particularly interested to see how Clemson folks have reacted to your statement to the judge during the sentencing portion of your trial that you will "always be a Clemson fan."
Well, I have something for you: Mr. Rogers, are no Clemson fan. You are not wanted in Clemson, you are not wanted as fan, and you are not wanted on the campus. We don't even want you watching our games on TV. Clemson people, especially Clemson graduates, are quality, solid people that do well in life. They are engineers, architects, doctors, lawyers, nurses and run there own businesses. You are nowhere near this kind of person, so you are no Clemson fan. It wouldn't cross the mind of a true Clemson fan to jump a fence and break anything, much less to take a tool to Howard's Rock (by the way, why did you want a piece of something as "common as dirt" when you could dig that up behind your mobile home?).
Having said all that, if you decide to, once your Saturday "community service" is complete attend a game on our - not your - beautiful campus, please be sure to stop by the fraternity quad before the game and introduce yourself. Tell them that you are "Micah Rogers, the Clemson fan." I'm sure the fellows there will give you a warm introduction.
After that, stop by and chat with the tailgaters in the various lots across campus. Some of the alumni, us older guys, would love to meet you. You've likely heard about Clemson's sterling reputation as a host school -- opposing fans always brag about their experiences in Clemson. You will get the same treatment. Just please introduce yourself as "Micah Rogers, the Clemson fan."
Finally, you can say that you're a Clemson fan, you can put stickers on your car and wear t-shirts, etc., but you are no Clemson fan. I can't speak for everyone, but I'm sure that many Clemson fans and alums will agree: we don't want you. Your are a sawed-off punk who will, whether it's on this earth or in the thereafter, gets what's coming.

since all Clemson games aren't on campus, that would be tough.
But banning him from campus would probably be enough, and be safer for that child anyway

Well said.
Although I doubt he'll have the courage, nor be stupid enough, to show his face in Clemson ever again. He's not wanted there, and he doesn't deserve the honor of being allowed to set foot upon our campus. He doesn't deserve to be treated with the same respect we afford fans of our opposing schools.... all he truly deserves is to be forced to stand at the gate at the top of the Hill for the duration of every home game, with his back to the field never allowed to look behind him, wearing a huge sign stating "I am Micah Rogers, and I desecrated Howards Rock." Community service is too easy, he needs to have to face every passing member of the Clemson family and be forced to simmer in his shame for what he's done.

While Steve Bartman (Cub fan who was abused by other Cub fans for trying to catch a foul ball) never desreved the abuse he got, I think Rogers should never be allowed inside our stadium plain and simple.

The tree guy in Alabama got jail time, over $800k in bills, years of probation w/ curfew and social media monitoring, a ban from any Auburn University facility, and a ban from any NCAA sanctioned sporting event. UA then took it upon themselves to ban him from their campus, and they've followed up on it.
I will be disappointed if Clemson doesn't do the same as UA.

I was thinking about this earlier...

After the incident when he turned himself in because he saw his truck on TV, what would the reaction had been if he completely fessed up to it and returned the piece as well as apologized?
I feel like we would have forgiven him and been able to move on. His actions (denying the incident, taking it to court, being found guilty with the minimum punishment) have embarrassed him as well as Clemson.

Would have been much different. Most people are willing to forgive someone that fesses up. This punk didn't do that. He lawyered up. His lawyer obviously did a good job of confusing the issue of value of the Rock. The jury obviously thought he did it. It was the issue of valuation that decided the issue for them. Now he walks with a slap on the wrist with the Rock piece hidden away somewhere.
