and I hate to say this because it sounds like an excuse, but the umpire was not being consistent with the calls. the UM pitcher was getting every corner, even off the plate a bit. where Anglin simply wasn't. So he had to resort to throwing pitches over the heart of the plate, which leads to.......hard hit balls and home runs! The announcer even mentioned it at one point. he said it was because the UM pitcher was throwing breaking balls that were "wrapping" around the plate. basically fooling the umpire. but we are talking about ACC crews here so......
regardless, it wouldn't have mattered because we couldn't hit the broadside of a barn anyway.....
All the more reason to institute trackman. It'd take some tweaking and a couple years but imo it'd ultimately be better for the game, the hitters and the pitchers.
Just suggesting because I really have no idea how it works, whether it could be hacked, used illegally etc. I can also understand the purest that says it would take the human element out of it too. Meh.
